Help! My Kitty is out of control

We recently adopted a 8 1/2 week old kitten...he is the cutest!!! I know he is a kitten and is going to be crazy for a while but he is so bad...he climbs up my leg when eating dinner, tries to climb up my curtains, jumps from couch to couch and forget about sleeping at night....he bites our toes, ears, runs around the bed, head butts us, ect...we are trying the water bottle method...spraying him when he does bad things but it's not working...he just runs away and 2 minutes later he is back causing more trouble. Anyone have any suggestions on how to tame this wild kitty.

here is a pic of the little monster

Get used to it! That's kitten behavior!

I would recommend firmly but consistently telling him NO when he does things like climb the curtains or your leg. (also keep those nails clipped) Or for stuff that's harmful to your possession or to him.
Otherwise, kittens are hyper and playful and curious.

Eventually they'll grow into adult cats who do nothing but lie in the sun all day and eat!

Behavior modification needs to be done very consistently. We usually clap when our cat starts doing something unnacceptable. Some people use a water bottle...don't know if I could do it myself but our cat is a big wussy.

A big part of it is all that kitten energy though...

ETA when our guy was little we didn't let him sleep with us. Now we do but he is a lot more mellow....

I see the North Shore Aminal League collar.

We got Sparky from there he was 7 weeks old or so. Same way. He did calm down but I have a stern loud sharp 'NO' i use with a finger pointed at him. We also used the spray but not after he did something but usually right as he was about to jump.

He's STILL wild and crazy. We used to have our bedroom door closed but with our older cat he's a terror so we lock up the kitten with us at night. He bites our ears and scratches my head and tries to dig under my legs and does bite our toes but usually its cause he wants to play.

Good Luck

Try the Purina website for kittens. It helped us feel better about our crazy kitten.

YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
