I don't know if it's age, dairy, caffeine, exercise (being sweaty a lot), hormones or stress...but my skin started looking like crap in January and I can't seem to get it to look good again.
I have this colony of red bumps on my chin that won't go away - it's not zits, exactly...more like a teensy rash. I've changed soaps three times, I exfoliate all the time...and in addition my skin looks dull and gray too!
My mom told me that her skin started to change at age 30...and I've come to find out that this is not uncommon in women as they turn 30.
Should I go to a dermatologist> Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

Oh yeah- my derm also said be careful with different moisturizers. I told him I break out and I only use Clinique (little yellow bottles). He said that wasn't right for my skin. He told me only use it when my skin is dry and flaky (which the topicals make my skin) and recommended either a different one by Clinique or even better being Neutorgena. He swaers by Neutrogena - he said most of the $$ stuff is the same at a higher price tag. He likes Clinique too.

Re: Help! My Skin Looks like hell...
This is going to sound absolutely retarded, but it worked for me. A few months ago, I had a problem with pimples on the side of my face, and I had no clue what was causing it. Then I realized just how much time I spend on the phone, so now I clean my phone a lot more often than I had been, and the pimple problem cleared up. Don't know if that could be affecting your chin, but it might be worth a shot.

I only put moisterizer on my forehead b/c thats the dry part...for a while I was using a DDF moisterizer...can't remember exactly but it was water based but now Sephora is a pain in the butt to get to so I've been using another one (can't remember the name of that one either) but I don't like it as much.

Someday- I read about that - I hear that does work! I wish that would work for me. That wouldn't explain my forehead or cheeks, etc.

Rachel, I had crappy skin this winter too, but it just returned to being normal a little over a week ago... So perhaps a weather change will work for you too?
I use regular soap (Yardley) and Olay oil-free moisturizer.
I had a facial around V-day and it only cleared up skin for about 2 weeks or so.

Suzanne - WHAT LITTLE TOOL??? My blackheads make me miserable!!!!!!
T - If I tried to hot oil FH's feet he would get all ticklish and giggly. He can't stand to be rubbed (ahem) most places on his body! For one thing he is soooo skinny that when I rub his back he giggles and squirms! He has no fat on his body so when you rub him (ahem again) he starts laughing and tries to get away from you.

Re: Help! My Skin Looks like hell...
I also started breaking out in my mid-20's! How wierd!
I am going back on the pill, so maybe that will help. If it doesn't I will go see a dermatologist.
Nothing seems to help! doesn't matter what cleanser I use, what lotion I use or how much water I drink.

Re: Help! My Skin Looks like hell...
I am having similar issues, mostly with red splotchiness on my face. I have combo skin, both oily and dry, and its hard to find products that help both. I use Clinique everything- soap, cleanser, makeup, moisturizer. I am not kidding when I say I buy out the counter. But the stuff is not really doing it for me anymore, and I am leery of changing as my skin is super sensitive. I would like to not be so red though, I saw pics from last weeks GTG and hate the patchy redness! I am also a bit worried about experimenting before the wedding, I do not want it to get worse If you find a good dermotologist, please let me know. I have heard that Doctor Zimmerman in Howard Beach is really good, anyone have any good experiences w. him?

After reading all of these posts, thank heavens for our makeup artists.
And Someday...that phone thing really may be the reason the right side of my face has been breaking out....I never thought of it!

Re: Help! My Skin Looks like hell...
I hate to tell you ladies, but it is true that you skin will change over and over again during your lifetime. I just turned 47(yes I admit it proudly) and have incredibly sensitive fair skin. I have had normal skin, oily skin and dry skin and every combination in between. Around 3 years ago I began to develop red splotches on my face. Dermatologist told me that part of it was because I was washing my face too much and taking away the natural oils in my skin which help to keep it healthy. He recommended Neutrogena Moisture for sensitive skin and told me to wash my face once a day with lukewarm water and a mild soap (I use Dove with lotion), and to moisturize while my face is still wet to keep the moisture in. I have been doing it ever since and this works wonders. Besides keeping my skin looking healthy it has helped to keep the wrinkles away! I have virtually none at all. Most people think that my 7 year old granddaughter is my daughter and they are shocked when they find out how old I am. There is nothing better for my ego than that. I should also add that I do not go out in the sun without a hat and I use sunblock with SPF 54+ and I drink a lot of water. It really does work.
