Help! Need a new venue - Atlantica maybe be closing....

repost from 2009 ---

I am in the same boat I was scheduled to get married there on October 1.... at least I am still a year out... I can't imagine if it were in april... at Least I didn't have anyting printed yet... but ***** back to square one - especially since I had this booked since FEBRUARY!

I have the photographer and band - and don't wan't to change the date - AHHHH.

I have appts this weekend at Montauk Yacht Club, the Pridwin in Shelter Island, and am calling the Rams Head inn in Shelter Island... does anyone know anything good /bad about these places?!

So sorry for everyone else that is booked there... I was so in love with it.. but no way in he** am I going all the way up the island to their other location! I live in Sag Harbor!!

*ugh* so frustrated...but FH calmed me down and said that this is a blessing in disguise that we can start over and rethink the size of our wedding (to make smaller more personal) - but still stinks

Have you looked at Old Field Club? Its in Setauket...its gorgeous!! I don't know how many people you were planning on though...I think they say they can accommodate 170 people but IMO it'd be a lil cramped.

Did you look at that new hotel in on the ocean in Long Beach? I was there for drinks over this past week-end It's pretty swanky.I think it called The Allgeria.

That is WAY to far west for us - we live all the way out east... Sag Harbor..

The Pridwin is beautiful. We went to a wedding there a few summers ago and it was a very quaint hotel and venue. The food was delicious too. HTH

Maybe check out Gurney's Inn in Montauk. My parents went to a wedding there and really liked the hall.

Shelter Island is really beautiful!! I didn't know there were wedding venues there though, I've only been camping...

This might just be me, and I totally don't want to add any more stress to your situation, but you're getting married in hurricane season (as am I).... If a tropical storm hits, you could still have a wedding on Long Island, but might they shut the ferries to Shelter Island down? Not wishing anything like that on you, but that would cause my anxiety for months and months, but I could just be a lunatic.

I suppose anything could happen at any time, though, and you take your chances, but just a thought.

I'm really sorry you have to deal with this now that you have other vendors booked though, that's really annoying. I really hope it's a blesing for you and you wind up with an even more fantastic wedding because of it!

FH and I saw a wedding once at the Gansett Green Manor in Amagansett - basically it would be tented, but it looked beautiful.

What about a vineyard wedding? Martha Clara is gorgeous. There's also Trumpets something or other which looks really pretty.

I have stayed at the Rams Head Inn several times, for FH's family reunion. It is beautiful there! and would be perfect for a wedding. I do not know how many people they would be able to accomodate inside but I can picture it fabulous outside on the big lawn, right by the water... under a tent probably.. good luck with it, I think that would be a great choice!

I love the Old Field Club and the Pridwin, I have been to weddings at both and they were both equally as gorgeous and the food was great. The only thing with the Pridwin is, it can be a pain to get to for your guests if they are planning on leaving after the wedding.
I hate to hear that about Atlantica, it is a beautiful venue

I am so sorry!!! Unfortunately Atlanica's actions do not surpise ot me at all. My guess is that they knew this was going to be happening when they booked their 2010 weddings. Both Atlantica and Allegria were advertising Todd Jacobs as head chef...odd? I guess I was lucky in pulling out my own deposit before I heard of this!

I looked at both the Pridwin and Rams Head on Shelter Island as well. They are both a bit non-traditional but beautiful. I had read good things about Pridwin weddings and loved the deck overlooking the water. I just had a hard time envisioning the setup for a wedding based on the info I was provided with. If you have the time and vision, this could be great. The Rams Head was also in a great location and has a very homey feel. Probably nice for a small wedding.

Awww, I am so sorry to hear about that!
I highly suggest The Vineyard Caterers in Aquebogue. We are getting married there in October of 2010 and find the entire staff to be wonderful.
Happy Hunting and best of luck to you!!!!!!

WOW! I can't believe they're closing! We always have family functions and brunches there!!

We were initially looking for places out east but because we're in the fall, most places needed to have a tent and we weren't sure because of the weather. But, these were on our list:

1) Sole East - cool modern hotel in Montauk
2) Montauk Yacht Club - very expensive
3) Gurneys - very expensive, dated interior
4) Southampton Inn - pretty, needs tent
5) Montauk Manor - tents
6) Bridgehampton Yacht Club (something like that)
7) East by Northeast
9) Easthampton Point
10) Trumpets - can only hold a little over 100 people
11) Westhampton Beach Country Club
12) Oaklands

Not sure of your price point. You can also try to have it at one of the beach clubs on Dune Rd? (La Ronde, Quogue Beach Club)
Also, there are a ton of pretty vineyards but you may have to pay a site fee.

HTH!
