Re: HELP!!! Need a Priest/Officant ASAP!!!
You should try Captain Arnold- he officiated my ceremony and was AMAZING! He is professional and met with us prior to learn our vision and created a meaningful, spiritual and personalized ceremony for us.
There is a website called www.rentapriest.com I didn't believe it was real, but it is. Good luck!

I'm looking into Capt. Arnold. I love that he wears his Captain's uniform. It will go perfectly with my outdoor wedding on the water.
I just got off the phone with Captain Arnold and he went thru my whole ceremony and I was tearing up. His vows are so sweet and awesome....he's totally everything that I wanted...not that religious, he says 'God' only twice and his part of it only last 18 minutes and 22 seconds...this is my kind of guy! Thank you so much for recommending him.

You are so welcome! He met with us in advance and really created a personalized and meaningful ceremony for us and incorporated everything we wanted.
We had a rose ceremony for our mothers, a tribute for my father in law who passed away, a prayer for my grandmother who became ill and was unable to attend, a sand ceremony (instead of the unity candle) and a reading by my sister in law. Our ceremony was about 35 to 40 minutes. It was better than everything I would have dreamed it could be!
Captain Arnold was engaging and kept our guests interested throughout our ceremony. Many of our religous guests said our wedding ceremony was the best they have ever been to and people are still raving about it!
I highly recommend him and am certain you will have a wonderful ceremony!
GOOD LUCK!

i woudl say this priest said he can't do it because you are getting married at the reception hall. An ordained priest can not and will not perform a marriage outside of a Catholic Church UNLESS the couple has extenuating circumstances... like inter-faith, but even then you have to get an inter-faith dispensation as well as complete Pre-Cana. Priests view marriage as a Sacrament for the Catholic and a Sacrament under just about all circumstances must occur in a Church in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.
Perhaps call the Diocese of RVC and explain your sistuation... you will need to complete paperwork and complete Pre-Cana, but if you act on this now, they may be able to help you.

This guy and others are no longer active Catholic priests. they have either been defrocked or left the priesthood on their own. These are good options if you want a ceremony in the Catholic 'tradition' but if you have one of these 'priests', it will not be a valid Sacrament for you because it is not an ordained priest or deacon witnessing the marriage. This marriage is legal of course, but it is not a marriage that is recognized by the Catholic Church in terms of a Sacrament. Does that make sense???
ETA: to quote the poster: these priests do the marriage when the church won't because: a) they are no longer priests b) the Church will not marry a couple unless it's in a Church OR a dispensation was completed and Pre-Cana was attended. These 'priests' cannot complete a dispensation or anything else in the Church because they are no longer clergy in the Church.

DH and I used Judge Corbett too. FM me for more info.
FTR, if you are looking for a religious-type ceremony, Corbett may not be for you. He is a retired judge. He was exactly what DH and I were looking for--a secular officiant with no religious background. Since you aren't getting married in a church, why do you want to exclude female officiants?

I was married at Atlantica by Father Bob Allmen. Highly recommend. He lives in the Hamptons
THANK U SOOO MUCH to everyone who responded to this....we actually got our original priest back!!! After making calls to the bishop to explain our circumstances, they will allow him to perform the ceremony! but thnx again for all the great tips, I made calls to almost all the suggested officiants, and all seemed very nice!
