We have been leaning toward doing a donation as the wedding favor. What does everyone think of making that donation to some sort of charity for animals? Is that too weird for most people?
We were thinking about maybe sponsoring a horse or wild mustang, or some other local charity to help stray animals.
I think it would be very hard to pull off in a way that conveys the right message. The good news is that no favors are neccessary anymore. I have been to three weddings in the past two years that did not have favors -- and these weren't weddings on a budget.
I think it is a great idea! Actually we are thinking of the donation as the wedding favor as well...probably donating to two or three places, one of them being an animal shelter or foundation.
I think that you should do what makes you and your fi happy. There is always going to be someone that may disagree with something that you are doing....you cannot please everyone, so just keep yourself happy!

It is your wedding day and do what makes you happy. Some favors that I have received at weddings are totally useless and I would rather they spent the money on a good cause.
