Help! Need Photographer

Help! Need Photographer

I think I've put off my search for a photographer long enough. It's so overwhelming, there are so many out there and it's really difficult to choose.
I'm not a big fan of going to the studios to look at their work, I feel I can't judge them on what they show, since they'll show me the nicest pictures they have ever taken.
So please give me you true reviews on your photographers, what you paid for both photos & video, if a photojournalist was included, etc..
I am also interested to hear if anyone was dissatisfied with their photographer. If you feel more comfortable FM - ing me, please do so.

Thanks for your help!

Paul Marino was our photographer. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and our pictures are beautiful. He is 100% digital which I know some people are not crazy about be we could not have asked for better pics! As for style, most of our pics are posed portrait type photos.

There's no point in mentioning prices since I booked him 3 years ago and they rates would not be comprable.

Two words- Twelfth Night. There are a lot of us 12th brides here. Dominic (the owner) is so nice and honest and very personable. I definitely recommend checking them out. www.twelfthnightphoto.com

I second 12th Night. Good prices. Ala Carte style. You can get a photojounalist and a formal photographer. They shoot both film and digital. Albums are ala carte as well and don't figure into the initial contract.

We're using VIP in Port Jeff. They had very reasonable prices. It's also 2 photographers.

We haven't booked anything officially yet but we went to Proline and Duet this weekend...

Proline was very impressive, the guy answered every question without a blink and didn't complain after we were there for over an hour. They do a lot of thnking when setting you up with your photographer and are very flexible. Prices are mid-range.

Duet didn't do a whole lot fof us, surprisingly. I was expecting fantastic work due to the large amount of people on here who use them but it didn't compare to Proline. Prices were great tho.

We are still planning on checking out some more... good luck! It is definetly the hardest person to choose!

Thanks for all the suggestions, has anyone else had experiences with any of the vendors listed in this thread, or with others?

For opinions on photographers from people who've actually used who they're recommending (who are already married) you're better off doing a search on these photographer's - and checking the Brides Review board.

I can't imagine what kind of advice you can get from someone who hasn't even used their vendor yet.

Re: Help! Need Photographer

Although you said that you dont like going to studios to see the work - it is also very important to go see the personality of the actual photographer that will be taking pics at your wedding - its true of course you are going to see their best work at the studio - but there was one thing that really surprised me - when we were waiting for our meeting- (we were early - we were lookign through an album of thank you cards that the photographer had - on a majority of the cards - there were write ins of - 'If you are reading this and looking for a photographer - definitely book'

That wasnt what sold us for Creative Compositions - we also love their work - and their personality. A few girls on here have already used them and loved their pictures - i just hope we will be just as pleased when our wedding comes around.

A lot of photographers have gorgeous work - i think it is very important for you to click with the person taht will be taking the pictures. I was very concerned abotu this because i tend to have a fake smile when i am posing or not comfortable -

I'm really happy thus far with the photographer that we chose - through teh individual attnetion taht we have received and through the wonderful pictures we have seen -
Take your time with making this decision - it is an important one.

Imagine Studios they are AMAZING!!! It's a husband & wife team. She does the photos & he does the video. As for prices I suggest e-mailing them. ( I used them almost a year ago) You will NOT be disappointed!
