Help! Need Photographer

Original post by May152005

I think I've put off my search for a photographer long enough. It's so overwhelming, there are so many out there and it's really difficult to choose.
I'm not a big fan of going to the studios to look at their work, I feel I can't judge them on what they show, since they'll show me the nicest pictures they have ever taken.
So please give me you true reviews on your photographers, what you paid for both photos & video, if a photojournalist was included, etc..
I am also interested to hear if anyone was dissatisfied with their photographer. If you feel more comfortable FM - ing me, please do so.

Thanks for your help!

I can't imagine what kind of advice you can get from someone who hasn't even used their vendor yet.

one can provide experiences to date, and how one ultimately made a decision... sure, i don't have my final shots just yet, but i can share why i elected to go with a certain vendor if asked. i will or will not 'cheerlead' only when i get my final product...and even then it's a cr@pshoot - one person can have a wonderful experience with a vendor and another can not. it's all relative...

i think i could provide decent feedback about other vendors as well, i.e. i witnessed a photographer in action at my FSIL's wedding. i also saw the final product. i can have an opinion on that, no?

Paul Marino...I am already very confident that he will do a fabulous job after meeting with him and viewing his work. Very nice guy, easy to work with. His prices are not the cheapest, but not too expensive.

Two words- Twelfth Night. There are a lot of us 12th brides here. Dominic (the owner) is so nice and honest and very personable. I definitely recommend checking them out. www.twelfthnightphoto.com

I have to totally, 100% agree with this statement. He just did our wedding and let me just say- AMAZING!!!!!! I was very happy with the results.

We are using Twelfth Night and we are sooo excited! We met with 5 photographers all together and felt there was really no competition. We are using Mittermax for video. Our second choice would have been Proline Studios.

We are paying $2200 for photography- one photographer for 10 hours, one for 5. That includes negatives, proofs and the digital proofs on a DVD. Our videographer is also $2200.

Good luck!

Re: Help! Need Photographer

We LOVE LOVE LOVE the work our photographer did. He was there with an second and an assistant. He is a photojournalist but did some posed shots (even these had a special touch to make them exceptional) and has gone on to renown since we first found him. Hos name is Scott Whittle www.scottwhittle.com and I knew he was the one for me the minute I saw his photos and met him. Best personality. Amazing pictures.
For video we used Jerry from Bliss Productions, www.blissproductionsny.com and have seen only raw footage thus far but he got everything and i am sure we will be happy with video. We wanted just a documentary of the day -- no fluff and that was precisely what he did, plus, just a really lovely fellow to have around (that is if you even notice him!)

Another 12th Night recommendation...go check them out, Dom won't show you a greatest hits album, he'll show you the proofs of weddings he just worked on...he's very personable and they have good prices.

I used Vinnie from Patken - I could not have been happier. They worked within my price range and my proofs and album are incredible.

If you search bridal review you can see my proofs.

I also second Imagine - they do beautiful work.
