Help Needed - IS this legal?

Original post by Jan05Bride

I went dress shopping yesterday and tried on a dress I really liked. My FMIL asked them who made it and they wouldn't tell her. IS THAT LEGAL?
I really want to view it online and can't find it!

I'm going to try to call them and get soem info. I really just want to show some people online to see if they like it. My MOH is 9-months pregnant and can't exactly come to LI to see me in it! UGH, so annoying!

Maybe: From this site

Tag Omission, Removal and Substitution
A wedding gown must have all the required labeling information when it leaves the manufacturer.

Under the Textile Act, it is illegal to remove a label containing manufacturer, fiber content or country-of-origin information without substituting another label with the required information. For example, a retailer who wants to remove a label identifying the manufacturer, must substitute it with a label that lists the shop's own name or RN, or the name or RN of someone else in the gown distribution chain. In addition, the substituted label must contain all the information that is required on the original label. All substitute labels must be properly attached to the gown -- either sewn in or on a conspicuously placed hang-tag. Finally, a retailer must not remove the sewn-in care instructions.

So yes it is legal, as long as they had a tag somewhere on it that displayed at LEAST the stores name.

Basically it has to have the name of the manufacturer OR the retail store, it has to have the fiber content, the country of origin and the care instructions. The care instructions MUST be sewn in (the rest of the stuff can be on a hang tag - unless the gown was made outside the us, in which case the country of origin tag must also be sewn in.)

I FINALLY got through to the place and the girl told me over the phone that it was Eve of Milady. I'm on the website now but I don't think it's any of the ones shown

Although it looks like this. I need to see the back though!

The inside of the dresses had a tag sewn on that said CS and then numbers so I thought maybe that was a clue to the designer.

Why could the girl tell me over the phone today but not last night in person , so annoying!

That stinks! I'd like to look at the dress online again before I go back in there and try more on ...

They do that a lot now, with BM dresses too, because they are on to the fact that people are going online and purchasing the same dress for soooooo cheap. ie: NETBRIDE

I know I feel the same way.. I made another appointment to go back this weekend with my mom to try it on.. the only thing I didnt really like was the saleswoman was practically pushing me to the cash register the second she heard I liked it... I know it was on sale but its the ONE THING my mom is 'supposed' to pay for.. I'd like her to see it before I buy it and hand her a bill!!! Plus I wanted to email it to my friends and post it on here to get some opinions..
