Congratulations on your engagement!
This site really helped me out at first...although my RH isn't even listed (go figure).
Congrats on the engagement! Are you looking for a RH in Nassau, Suffolk or NYC? I'll be happy to help!

These are all very reasonable:
Windows on the Lake Chateau La Mer the Riviera
They're all on the water...we need more info to help you though....what kind of hall are you looking for/where (Nassau/Sufflok)?

how many people are you inviting? what type of hall do you like? (on the water, 1 wedding at a time, marble, more casual, old fashioned, mansion like) what is your ideal per person price?

Congrats on your engagement! If you list a price that you are looking to spend per person, as well as how many people you're having I'm sure more people will have suggestions for you!

What type of atmosphere you want: beach, ballroom etc
What borough? What is your price per plate range? What time of year?

Re: help on catering halls
Hi everyone,
I'm looking to have a wedding anywhere from Queens to Nassau to Suffolk. We are on a tight budget, we're looking at a budget of no more that $30,000 if possible. Also, we are having an interacial wedding, i'm chinese and my fiance is not, we are trying to find a catering hall that will allow us to have outside caterers in addition to what the hall is offering...aw aw...my head is splitting from the stress already. Any help from you guys is much appreciated.

Re: help on catering halls
what time of year? That will make a HUGE difference in the price! And do you care what day of the week? My RH might be far from LI if thats where you are from, but I am using the VIP Country Club in New Rochelle. For a Friday night in the summer, its 105 per person. The Fountainhead was 95 for a Fri night in the summer.

Re: help on catering halls
Sat nite is usually the most $$$, then Fri nite, then Sun nite.
afternoons are less expensive also.
Each RH seems to have its own peak months where ppp is more. While prices may be lower for say Oct/Nov in one hall they could be higher in another if they have alot of business at that time. so even if you think it might be more $$$ always ask anyway.
for 100 guests, you may be limited in your choices especially in places that do 1 wedding at a time but there are others that will accept lower than 100. and if you think that your list will be just about 100, guarantee less so you don't get stuck paying if alot of people say no.
Larkfield Manor has a second room that we used that holds up to 120 and we guaranteed just 60. they are reasonably priced.
you could also check Geo Wahingtom Manor, Westbury manor, Irish Coffee Pub, Capt Bill's and Harbor Club in Huntington. and Thomas Stuart Maonor in Farmingdale is supposed to be reasonable also.
to bring in outside food you might want to check places like Knights of Columbus, or American legion places. KC in Oceanside and Seaford are said to be nice.
Marconi caterers might do different foods for you.
and Long Island Maonor is a place that rents the hall and I think you need to arrange for a caterer etc. you might want to check that.

Congrats! Thatched Cottage is really nice----I've been to weddings there---and they have some really reasonable packages.
Check out the Milleridge. I am getting married at the cottage and they offer smaller weddings in the carraige house and in the inn itself. Price is very affordable and they are willing to accomodate certain needs.

Re: help on catering halls
I've never been there but I've heard that the Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn caters ALL types of ethnic food.
You can also check in with Westbury Manor, I know that Jenlen had a Chinese ceremony there, not sure if they had Chinese food but it doesn't hurt to ask...
Many catering halls may not allow outside caterers to work with them but you can certainly check in. Many of these catering halls are dealing with the soft economy right now and are willing to negotiate their prices significantly down.
Good luck. Don't let the stress get to you! It will be ok!
