i found a day old kitten in my backyard, it still has an umbilical cord! .. i brought it to bide a wee in wantagh, but they wouldnt take it since i am not a hempstead resident... they said they would probably just euthanize it since they dont have any nursing mothers today... i had to go to work so i left it at home... does any one know who i can call for a nursing mother???

Call a vet asap! The kitten hasn't eaten yet??
They have milk replacement for cats that you can feed to it, but you have to do it every few hours. I'd call a vet and see what can be done.

Keep the kitten warm and take it to any vet ASAP ! It needs to eat.

call your vet immediately. there is powdered replacement milk that you can buy at most pet stores however you'd have to feed the kitten every few hours. the kitten needs to be kept VERY warm.

best thing is to take it to a vet ASAP. DO NOT use the milk at the pet store...even though it says kitten replacement milk. cause if you try and feed it that milk with a bottle--the kitten will aspirate it into their lungs and possibly die.
a vet is truly the best place to bring the kitten...they will help. i found my cat when he was barely 3 wks old and my vet was a life saver! (he's not over a year!)

no one will take him!!!! what is wrong with these people?? i called oyster bay shelter, they wont take him. they told me to call mass pet vet and they wont either

have you tried just any local vet near you- dont call- let them see the cat- can you take the cat to the vet?

How is the kitten holding up ? If you have condensed milk, not sweetened, you can give it some with an eye dropper.

where are you located? There are several emergency veterinarians that should be able to take the kitten and treat him.....please keep us all posted....

I have raised several kittens from birth who were rejected by their mother and have never had a problem with the replacement milk.

i brought him to Island Trees Animal Hospital and the woman took him and said she would bottle feed him and he'll be okay hopefully.. i'll probably call in a couple of days to see how he's doing
i wanted to give my name just in case i decide to keep him but they said they would have to charge me for anything they do....
