I finally found my something blue! But it isn't blue yet!
The back of my dress has a lace up corset back and a satin ribbon to lace it with. I want the ribbon to be light blue! Whether this means dying it (since the ribbon is REALLY strong) or finding one strong enough and comparable...
any ideas on where to find a blue corset ribbon (ive been searching online)
OR
where to have this one dyed?
I know people have satin shoes dyed, im sure i can have a ribbon dyed.
FH and MOH loved the idea!

Re: HELP PLEASE
honestly im sure you could just diy..wal mart sells dye (i think it's called rit), and its really easy to do..i would just buy a comperable ribbon to see how the dye takes before you do the actual one

Re: HELP PLEASE
Your bridal salon can probably dye it for you. Not sure how much they'd charge, but you'd know for sure that it wouldn't run onto your white dress. I'd be hesitant to dye it myself.

Re: HELP PLEASE
This is probably going to sound strange but check on Ebay by doing a search for RCA or Renaissance garb. The women on there are seamstresses who specialize in Renaissance faire costumes. I guarantee one of them would be have or be able to find blue corset lace. Good luck.
Added: I'll see if I still have one of the women's screen names and FM you.

Re: HELP PLEASE
Ask the bridal salon if their seamstress can make one for you!

Re: HELP PLEASE
I also wouldn't use dye... what if it rains? for my brothers wedding we all died our shoes and on of my SILs sisters popped open champagne and it spilled onto my shoes, (I was 10 at the time) I freaked, I walked down the isle with teal and white tiedyed shoes... I still have them too! (and the dress was short so you could see them)
I'd shop around a bit, ask your dressmaker. or contact sheri, the velvet castle
she makes irish dance costumes, thats how i know about her. She was going to make me one a few years ago, but I couldn't afford it, she offered to do it at a discount... but then other things came up. but I do know she makes all different costumes and dresses, she'll prob send you something and only charge you for shipping, she's so sweet!

Re: HELP PLEASE
Very good points ladies, thank you! I didn't think about rain at all! I bought my dress at david's bridal and they said they didn't know I called them today, I also asked if I could buy another and they said no...very helpful. I spent so much time looking online but now I'll switch from looking for corset ties to renaissance ones, thank you!

Re: HELP PLEASE
Easiest way - go to a fabric or trimming store and buy grosgrain or satin ribbon in the shade of blue you are looking for. Buy some extra to wrap around your bo-k if you like.

Re: HELP PLEASE
Maybe buy fabric in the color you would like and have someone sew it around the tie from ur dress - does this make sense? just an idea

I use RIT dye. ask the salon if they have a 'throw away' ribon for you to test first.

This might be the easiest! That way I know it's strong enough!
