Help Please on Reception Halls

Help Please on Reception Halls

We're having about 160 people and looking to spend about $100 pp (before tax/gratuity - Sat evening Sept/Oct). Looking primarily in Nassau (will consider very west Suffolk). Absolutely want outside cocktail and great food/service. Don't really care about 'only 1 wedding at a time'

Looked at:
Riviera (maybe a bit small even though they say MINIMUM for Sat is 150)
Milleridge - absolutely loved but can't make minimum
GW Manor - too small
Roslyn - too expensive
Terrace on the Park - like it, but didn't fall in love
North Ritz - can't meet minimum
Chateau La Mer - not really our style but great price
Westbury CC- can't make minimum
Staten Island CC - liked
Watermill - loved but too far
Thatched Cottage - great but too far

Do you think I should look at Fox Hollow, Crest Hollow, Woodlands, Woodbury CC.

I know I'm asking about a lot of places but any feedback is sooo very appreciated. This is becoming very very stressful! I wish I lived out east more because I seem to love everything that's too far!
Thanks girls!

You should take an afternoon and check all of them out, they are all in the same area. I like the Fox Hollow, they have a cool outside cocktail hour. I also really like the Woodbury Country Club. The grounds out back are really nice. Good luck.

By the way, I went to the Woodbury Country Club and the wedding was small, so you probably will be able to make the minimum. And the food was great!

How about Sand Castle? I didnt like them too much but they would fit into your category...Maybe a little more money then that? Try not to limit yourself...people WILL travel for a wedding, especially on a Saturday....I think Riveria is way too small for 160..JMO..we are having 125 and thought it was too small for that....I would alos say try Fox hollow, friend had 180 people and loved it there...GOOD LUCK!

Since you don't mind if there is more than one event at a time I highly suggest the Crest Hollow Country Club

a bit more, but you may want to check out the vanderbilt mansion.

The Crest Hollow Country Club has such beautiful grounds to have your ceremony (if yu choose) and the cocktail hour. That was my second choice for halls.

However they did something that completely turned me off... they showed us a room while someone had a ceremony going on (I think it was a bar mitzfa - spelling?). I thought that was RUDE! I would be very angry if someone showed my room during my wedding. And yes we did have an appointment.

The Woodlands is great - it was our second choice - but I'm not sure that $100/pp is feasible for there.

thanks everyone!
julz - they showed you the room that actually had the bar mitzvah going on in? I agree - I wouldn't like that.

I am biased but I love the Woodbury CC and for Saturday the price pp was $115 for June. They have 2 weddings at a time but you are totally separated from each other. We went for a tasting and the food was delicious!

The other 3 you mentioned might be too expensive. Check your lost. Are you inviting 160 or will you HAVE 160? B/c Millerridge has the carriage house which goes up to 130.

I love Chateau la Mer so my vote goes for that

Fox Hollow is nice too, but I don't know about their price range... am going to a wedding at the Woodbury Country Club in December but that doesn't help you now... sorry :(

Good luck!

Fox Hollow gave me a price of $105 for a Saturday night in June (includes an extra half hour for cocktail hour). We didn't try to negotiate because we thought they started too late for us (reception would be 7:30PM to 1AM). Love the place though and they give you a lot of food.

How about checking out the Manor East .

We chose the Swan Club, because of the outdoor area for the cocktail hour and the gardens. It's in Roslyn, so it might meet your needs also.

Villa Lombadri's all the way. I got married last August on a Sunday night and my price before Tax/Grat was $79.95 per person and everything was fabulous. It rained during my cocktail hour so no one went outside but their Glass pavillion room for cocktail hour along with the food was amazing. My guest are still talking about it. The roud trip out to LIE ext 61 is worth it.

I recommend Crest Hollow...I'm biased though..
However the room I'm booked for is minimum 175 for a Sat nite in May.

I'm not sure what the minimum is in the other room....

I'm a little biased but you should definitely check out The Woodbury Country Club They only have 2 weddings at a time with staggered times and totally different floors for each wedding. The downstairs room has the outside cocktail hour... Good Luck!
