HELP!!!!! QUESTION ABOUT DRESS SIZING!!

HELP!!!!! QUESTION ABOUT DRESS SIZING!!

I ordered a Mon Cheri in a size 2 - my measurements fit their dress chart for a size 2 exactly.

But now I'm paranoid that I might gain like 5 pounds and the dress won't fit (my weight fluctuates a lot).

The place where I ordered said it's not too late to switch to a size 4, but if it's super big I'm afraid the alterations might make the dress look weird. They can always let the size 2 out a little but what if there isn't enough material!

What would you do??

I need to decide by tonight so they can change the order to a size 4 if I want... Help help!!

This is the dress:

I'd go with the 4. Its easier to take it in than let it out. A good tailor can take in a dress 2 sizes without altering the shape whatsoever.

I ordered a Demetrios dress and based on my measurements they said I was a 6. I told them to order me the 8. They were a little surprised I wanted the 8 but hesitantly ordered the bigger size for me. I'm so glad I did, because when I had my first fitting the dress fit perfectly. It didn't even need to be altered at all. Only the bustle. So because of my own experience I would say get the bigger size.

Get the size 4 because as others have said it is easier to take in then to let the dress out.

ITA. My consultant told me I could order an 8 but those are my exact measurements, she recommended I order a 10 so I did!

order the 4 so you wont need to worry. it's just a size bigger trust me it wont make the dress look any different.
i'm small and my dress size is 6 b/c of my hips!!! lol

I would def go with the size 4! As everyone else has said, it's easier to go tailor the dress smaller than make it bigger. I wouldn't want to have it in the back of my mind for months that theres a possibility the dress doesn't fit because of a mere 5 lbs. I love food WAY too much!!

Thanks! So sizing down from a 4 to a 2 won't make the dress look weird/disproportionate?

Re: HELP!!!!! QUESTION ABOUT DRESS SIZING!!

Definitely not. Did you speak with the alterations department of the store you are purchasing the dress from? Do they have an opinion? I was in between a 4 and 6. They told me if my weight doesn't fluctuate to get the 4 but if I wanted to be safe to get the 6. So that's what I did. They said it is much easier to take the dress in than to find material to let the dress out. I am a size 24 or 25 waist to give you an idea so bridal dresses can run really different than street sizes

Re: HELP!!!!! QUESTION ABOUT DRESS SIZING!!

I did speak with them and they said it would be just as easy to let it out as to take it in (although I find that hard to believe!). My waist right now is 24-24.5 (the max on the chart for a 2 is 24.5). It's way too stressful to try not to gain a centimeter on my waist especially with the holidays coming up. Thank you girls for all of your help. I think I'm going to call tomorrow and switch to a 4 :)
