Help! re: flowers & Lent

We are getting married on March 17, which is during Lent. My priest said "you won't have to worry about flowers since it's Lent" and I was too embarrassed to ask him - does that mean we can't have flowers in the church at all or does that mean there will already be flowers there? I so dont want to call the church & ask...

Help! flowers & Lent

I was married during lent this past year. the church was already decorated for Lent but not with flowers - mostly purple wreaths and drapes....I put pew arrangments on the first 2 pews on each side. They doubled as decorations at the reception...

If you don't want to ask the priest, as the secretary at the rectory. They tend to be in the know and are usually helpful.

So.... make a big fuss about that, how you can't believe so-and-so is there and "what are you doing in town!" etc. and of course how delighted you are that they came all that way to be there.

No hard and fast rule

I really depends upon the Parish. Mine did.

Some Parishes won't even marry or christen during lent, others do.

Your best bet is to contact the Rectory and speak with the secretary.
