Help re: Votive Placecards

My hall does not allow them to be lit because it is a fire hazard. I have all of the materials, made a sample that I LOVE and came up with the idea of using mini glowsticks instead of candles so that I could have the same effect without the 'flame.' I bought white glowsticks, but they light up to have a Blueish neon tint, it's hard to really tell without having them all 'lit' up but I think it looks kind of fake. I was thinking maybe a different color glowstick might look closer to candlelight (like orange or yellow) Does anyone have any other creative suggestions as to what I can do (even if I have to use them for something other than candles . . .) This is SO upsetting and ANNOYING!!!

I don't have any other creative way, I am still trying to figure out how to do them myself also (as far as putting the names on them, but I will ask around for you

Re: Help re: Votive Placecards

i asked my banquet manager about them and she loved the idea but said that they are kind of awkward for the guests to carry around at CH..she thought it might be a good idea to just put them on the table with a candle in it which they would light right before the reception and that way the people have it at their table..she also said that people put it down during CH and then forget where they put it..what about just keeping it on the table and seeing if they will light it for you once the party begins? or maybe put it out without it lit and then have it lit when they sit down like when the waiter comes to take their order??

ME TOO! I am having my wedding at Port Jeff CC which are the same owners as Villa...so they have the same stupid rule...I bought all the votives too...Frustrating. I think I will just end up putting them on the tables.

THis is what I hoped to do, but was using the glow sticks for the display, and the having them removed and the candles lit once the guests were at their seats.

I understand the rule and tend to agree, but now I am just trying to figure out a creative alternative in case it does not work out

Re: Help re: Votive Placecards

We had them, at first we didnt plan on lighting them, but the hall did and it was awesome. I printed labels on vellum and took them too kinkos to have them cut and then we glued them on the votives. It wasnt too bad of a process. Everyone loved the candles and took them home at the end of the night. Here is a pic (amateur) of them not lit, I sitll think it looked nice.

The guest will have acess to the votives only when they are about to enter the main Ball Room so they won't have to carry it for a very long time or bring it to the cocktail hour
