So... I finally made it down to Long Sialnd to check out places and I am sooooo confused!!!
I saw: Chateau Le Mer Fox Hollow Chateau Briand Leonard's Jericho terrace
I ruled out Chateua Briand so far. Although the price is good and package is great it's just not my style.
Chateu Le Mer I thought was the one.... until they told me that gorgeous room would not be mine since I have only 120 guests and you need 150 minimum on a Friday night ofr the big gorgoues room. The other room was very unimpressive to me for the price. I was sooo sad. It''s very my style with indoor/outdoor cocktail area and huge windows by the water, and skylight.
Fox Hollow seemed not my style at first as it was very countryiush but they were so nice and their pacakge and food sounded amazing. Also winter garden was soo beautiful for my reception. but it still was not what I saw for my wedding.
Jericho terrace was my 2nd favorite after Chateau Le Mer. They only have 1 day available and again they needed a 150 minimum like Chateu le Mer.
leonard's was gorgeous and the price was right. But there seemed to be too many things going on.
I ams sooo confused. Should I up my minmum from 120 to 150 to get one of my top 2 choices? I am not sure if I can afford it and I dont want to over extend myself.
Or are there other places that have what I am looking for that I have not seen yet. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!!!

Re: HELP!!! Reception Hall dilemna
you have to go with the place that you like the most AND fits your budget. if u cannot afford the place then its a no....sometimes you have to compromise on what you want.
have you thought about an afternoon, thursday, or sunday night?

I would stay away from increasing your minimum. I would suggest looking at another place that more suits your needs and gives you the ambiance you're looking for.
Did you check out Giorgios? I only ask bc it sounds like it would be your taste. Open, airy and bright. It's on a golf course and beach.
Take a look at the Snapper Inn. They have an outdoor pavilion and it might fit your goals.

Re: HELP!!! Reception Hall dilemna
I was down between La Mer and Leonards too. I didnt want Jericho Terrace because everyone I knew got married there! lol. At the end, we wanted La Mer, but its really only nice for a great sunny day because of the boat ride they give you for pics. You are basically betting your special day on the weather. We werent going to chance it since it was so much money so we went wtih Leonards because even if it rains there are great places to take pics, plus the food is great. We are having a outdoor indoor cocktail hour

If you love being on the water, check out The Thatched Cottage (on a lake, with beautiful grounds) and the Riviera (beautiful outdoor on the water area). I think they are all in the same range with La Mer give or take a few dollars. Oh, also theSwan Club, but they have 2 at a time.

i know i already suggested it, but i think the swan club is just splendid for smaller weddings.....i would check them out before increasing your minimum. plus, the swan club has really reasonable prices and they are willing to work with you and your needs. ok, i'll stop raving now

Re: HELP!!! Reception Hall dilemna
At CLM the cocktail hour is the same in either room becuase you use the cocktail room on the forist floor so you would get the inside/outside you wanted. THe upstairs room still has an amazing view (better in my opinion). You really get alot for your money there.....I never exev considered it but went becasue I live a few blocks away. THeir prices were way cheaper than everyone else and you got so much more.

Re: HELP!!! Reception Hall dilemna
we booked VYC on a sunday and we got run of the entire place - typically you can have the downstairs room (they are the same) with a minimum of 125 - and the upstairs with a minimum of 200 i believe - but i would check them out

Re: HELP!!! Reception Hall dilemna
If it's pretty grounds you want try Crest Hollow Country Club or Woodbury Country Club... I was amazed by the grounds at CHCC. You can have a min of 120 at CHCC but only during certain times on the weekends, I think I was restricted to a Saturday afternoon wedding to get what I wanted... but I highly recommend them I dealt with Sharon and she was lovely.
