Help! Reception site needed!!!
Hi everyone- I''m not originally from Long Island, so I''m clueless really where to look. My FH and I need to pay for the wedding reception ourselves, so I can''t afford to spend $100/person. I''m looking for a place where, hopefully, I''m the only wedding, preferably a Saturday night, for about 150 people. We have a budget around $20,000. I live in Long Beach, but am willing to have it anywhere (Nassau or Suffolk), except towards the Hamptons or any further east, being that my family is from Westchester. Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks a lot!!! :)

I was looking in Suffolk county..and the only places I remember being less then $90/head were Smithtown Country Club, Meadow Club, Bavarian Inn, Island Hills Golf Club..just a few places to have you start looking into.

My cousin was married at Villa Lombardi's and she only paid $79.95 a head for a Friday night wedding. Saturday night was $99.95 . This place was soo unbelievable. the food was outrageous, and they have such an awesome coctail hour. They have a ton of food! i think you get so much more for your money there. I'm getting married at Russo's on the bay, nd they are not cheap, i only hope we het our monies worth! Good luck , I hope you find what your looking for

I would echo the recommendation for Port Jefferson Country Club. There you are the only wedding happening and our price for a Sunday night really isn't that bad. I also remember Mediterranean Manor in Patchogue being a VERY good deal when we were looking about 1 and a half years ago. It was something like $59.00 a head for a Sunday night back then. My sister had her wedding there about 5 years ago and it was GREAT!!! (Only problem with them is that they do have multiple engagements occurring at the same time). We also found a nice little place up on Lake Ronkonkoma. It's right around the corner from the Bavarian Inn. I believe it's called Windows on the Lake. I was told good things about them, but I can't remember all of the details. You might try giving them a call.

That sounds a little tight
if the $20,000 is for the whole wedding and not just the reception. We````re having 110 people on a Friday night this July at the Westbury Manor and we````re just making our total budget of $20,000. We````re entertaining less people, on a cheaper night, at a place that although is very nice and elegant and serves good food, has more than one wedding at a time. Our budget includes everything wedding related including the rings and the rehearsal dinner but excluding the honeymoon. I don````t mean to alarm you, but we````re also paying for the wedding ourselves and we````re on a tight budget so I just wanted you to be prepared. If you````re resourceful and flexible you can stay on budget with other vendors such as the photographer. If you````re creative, or know someone who is, you can save a bundle on invites, favors, etc. But the Saturday night factor will hurt your budget. Think about it and let us know what you decide. And good luck!

Since most of your family is from Westchester, what about some options up that way? I recall seeing a few nice places up the Hudson River way in one of the wedding location magazines. They were out of the question for us, since everyone was from LI or NJ or flying into one of the airports, but it may work for you, and some of the prices seemed more reasonable.

I am getting married at Fox Hollow (www.scottobrothers.com) for 60 ++/person for the 4th of July. Sat afternoons are generally the cheapest on the weekend, however, we even saved 19 off of that by having it on the 4th. Works out good for us because my and family lives in Buffalo (we do too, currently.) My budget is about 15K and it highly possible depending how much you are willing to do a lot of things yourself, as I am. Good luck!!! Nancy

That sounds a little tight--maybe not
We're doing our wedding for 150 at Fox Hollow on a Friday in July for about that(including photo, dj, flowers, limo, invitations, favors, programs and church fees). My mom bought my dress for me, but it was only about $500.

We are July 6, 2001!!!!!!! Our cocktail hour is in the Wintergarden(love that room) and the reception is in the Briar Fox. I work in the office complex sort of across the street from it so a few days after getting engaged last year, I went over to check it out on my lunch hour. I fell in love with the place too! We dealt with Mr. Mel. He's a wheeler dealer, so you have to try not to get too caught up in his sales pitch. I went to pick my menu last Friday--It's getting so exciting!!!!!!!

Please keep me informed... JR was actually the best person we ran in to on our search which was helpful as well. Not pushy and tried to work with our budget. Our cocktail hour is in the restaurant, which we fell in love with as well. I simply cannot wait. :) Good luck!!!! Nancy

Thanks for reception help
Thanks everyone for your advice. I feel bombarded with names of places!! I'm very depressed about the amounts - especially for a Saturday night - so we may be forced to switch to a Friday. I also assumed Dec. would be much cheaper...thanks again everyone!! :)

Marnles, If you are looking at December don't wait too long to book, there are alot of companies that have Christmas parties at the catering halls. Did you consider looking at Villa Barone in Throggs Neck or even Maestro's in the Bronx?

Don't worry, I'll keep you informed! Another thing that I like about Fox Hollow is that if you have an appoinment, someone is always there ready and waiting for you when you get there. Cecilia, who we met with to pick the menu, said that on the day of the wedding my bridal attendant will be outside waiting for us 1/2 hour before we're due to get there(in case we're a little early).Welcome New Vendors
