Help - Riviera (Massapequa) Brides (Past & Present)

I attended the showcase tonight and am wondering how they set it up for cocktail hour if the weather does not permit an outdoor cocktail hour? Anyone have pics of the cocktail set up inside?

They had bands, photographers, videographers, florists and limos.

The chocolate fountain was on display too with marshmellows, strawberries, pineapple, rice krispy treats etc.

The dessert area was to the far right of the bar in the area with kind of dome chandeliers?

This is the area I am talking about.

How many people can the reception space really hold? I don't think 200 will fit, more like 150?

200 would be way too tight there. If it rains, I was told your cocktail hour would be n that bar area which I also thought was way too tight. I also did not feel they had enough bathrooms for everyone at all. I like the fact that it was on the water and it felt cozy, but those other things didnt do it for me. I thought everyone would be too cramped.

When we looked there we thought the indoor cocktail hour would be too small for 150 people. That was a major reason we didn't go with them. There were rumors that they might expand that, but Michelle, who we met with wasn't sure if they were. It wasn't definite. I think it would be too small for 200 people the way it is now.

I was lucky that I had a beautiful day, so cocktail hour was outside!

I believe there are chairs for 80 people in that room, if that is any indication. The 'rest' of the people would need to stand.

We had a very small wedding, so that room wasnt an issue and I wished for sun a lot!

Good Luck. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I am panicked about this issue...our guest list is currently around 270 and we sent out STD's to 192 people that we must invite...

There are people on the non-STD list that I really want to include, but I have no idea how everyone will fit!

230 is the max- it comfortably holds 190 without going into the side room.

That's an awesome deal, considering I'm paying extra because I just had to have the Chocolate Fountain!

i'm not getting married at the riviera - but went to a wedding where the cocktail hour was inside cause it was the fall and was a bit chilly ----

the cocktail hour was held in that area that you were talking about on the right hand side of the bar - where the desserts were served later on...

if i remember correctly that there were seats for about maybe 75/80 people - everyone else had to stand ----

i know they say that they can hold a larger number - but i was at a wedding with 150 people and felt like the whole thing inside --- including dinner seating was very cramped...

however - if you are fortunate enough to get a beautiful day (like FH's brother did) the outside coctail area was absolutely beautiful and there was tons of room and seating

I heard there were rumors of them expanding the cocktail hour room with an atrium type of deal? Has anyone heard anything?

I went to a wedding there in August and the cocktail hr was outisde...where it was 96 degrees. The ceremony was also outside...we were all melting!

There were about 150 people at the wedding and it felt a little cramped in the hall but I remember everything else being nice.

That is exactly why we are not even asking about June, July or August. My MOH was a BM in July for an outdoor ceremony and she was dripping with sweat from a short walk from the building to the ceremony and then standing there in the blazing sun

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but I booked in July 2004 and am getting this free of charge. ~~Kim

Agreed - I don't think this is really a 'deal that will expire.' I got the same thing; free cart, pasta station at signing; and then free fountain, coffee bar and chateau briand when we went over the final menu..

It's worth pennies to them...

Good to know. So there is no need to make a special trip for FI to see the place sometime this week. He could not attend the showcase.
