If I had a bridal attendant, I think I would not get a DOC. Because I'm not having a bridal attendant, though, I'm seriously considering getting one. I'm not an easily stressed person, both FH and I are pretty laid back, but I just don't want to be bothered on the day of with the little details. I would find out from other Westbury Manor brides how helpful the bridal attendant was on the day of, and then figure out if you still need one.

I don't know, I have the same question myself. I am not really even sure of what their role is. I know that if I told FH he would think I am crazy.

I have to tell you as a formal bridal attendant when i worked catering while in High school and now having hired rosalie- they do not do the same things... a DAY OF helps in many more ways than a bridal attendant... A DOC- helps with ideas throughout planning, helps with favors if necessary and any things you need ideas for.... then rosalie goes to rehearsal to meet important people and organize ceremony WITH you...she will go above and beyond what a bridal attendant can and will do.. in my opinion, yes the Bridal Att. will get you your drinks and pack up your flutes and cake server and make sure you eat...and some other small things, but nothing what a DOC can and will do

PS- fh totally thought (and may still think) that it is unnecessary but he also wont be worried about the small details like me, my mom and MOH will be, so it will make our lives easier...

ALso, she calls and confirms vendors, makes sure all imp pics are taken, makes sure all special ordered food/drinks are there properly being served

all the little things that you say oh i can do itl..they add up and we cant do everything... SO that is what the DOC is for...

I booked Laura from LAProduction who is awesome!! I originally went to meet with her just to find out what she does since I heard so much about her.

Some of the things she will be doing that a bridal attendant can't do are calling all of my vendors the day before to confirm and make sure they know where and when to be, have copies of all my contracts to make sure all vendors are fullfilling their duties, plan a fully detailed timeline for the day, she'll have three emergency kits (bandaids, blister thingies, breath mints, chalk, needle and thread...) she will also be the go-to person for anyone who has a problem - she will be the one to deal with it. I also ended up getting invitations from her and will be getting favors from her and she gets a great discount.

I wasn't crazy about spending more money, but after meeting her I totally felt it was worth it, plus she gets such rave reviews.

Good luck.

At first I thought I was compulsive enough to handle my own day. But after meeting and speaking with Michelle Nocella from Defining Moments, I have thought about it, and realized how much less stressful my day will be, and how my over compulsiveness won't ruin my day if I had her taking care of all my details I have worked so hard on. The bonus is... If I use her for make up too, I have some one to touch me up all day!!! I haven't confirmed with her yet, but it's definate as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Help! Should I have a....

Just from remembering what my sister's wedding was like, I don't think she would have had nearly as much fun if she didn't have her wedding planner/DOC there. They take care of EVERYTHING, so the bride has nothing to do on her day, but smile for pictures, kiss her husband, greet guests, and have fun! The DOC handles tipping the vendors, the maitre d', ensures no one 'walks off' with presents or wedding cards, if something should go wrong on the day - the bride is not told about it and (hopefully) never finds out about any snags in the plans because everyone knows to go to the DOC first.

If I don't end up getting a planner, I am definitely getting a DOC.

Re: Help! Should I have a....

I would get one but my parents would flip. I'm doing so much that they'd prefer to do differently but I decided to go along with them on this issue. My dad wants to do all the stuff on the day of the wedding. I'd prefer him to just relax but he is insistent. Also, I am getting married at a Temple and I've been dealing with them so well that I hate to throw a coordinator into the mix. I already feel that I have gotten more personal attention than most caterers give because the Temple does not have back to back weddings all weekend. The catering manager informed me that I'll give him a list of vendors to call and confirm! There is also a bridal attendant. I would have really wanted a coordinator but I think i will skip it b/c of my family not wanting it.

If I were to hire one I would either use Laura or Lady Princess.

I am using laura from LA Productions and at first I was like well what do DOC's do and when she got done going over the list of everything she does I was tired just from listening to her. So I think they are definitely woth it.
