Help! Song during ceremony

Help! Song during ceremony

Without consulting me, FH asked his cousin to sing a song during the wedding. She wants to sing 'The Wedding Song' by Peter, Paul and Mary....which, no offense to anyone, reminded me of Puff the Magic Dragon when we played it on YouTube.

I'm trying DESPERATELY to get out of her singing this. I'm getting married at the North Ritz Club, hoping for an outdoor ceremony. I know I've seen some people post about local ordinances that you can have live but not amplified music. Anyone know if this is true in Syosset?

Keeping my fingers crossed that this is true.

This is a HARD one.

I would say you can try to blam the venue!! Tell her you are only alloted X amount of time outside (in the ceremony space??) so they can prep for the next wedding/turnover something like that.

Blame the officiant and tell her he does not allow stuff like that.

If your FH is ok with NOT having the music, be semi honest and tell her its not something you want.

Or just be honest and say you DONT want to hurt her feelings, but you dont want music, it will stop the flow of the ceremony and its just not something that would fit.

Good luck!

i agree ...

but question - is it the singing that you object to, or the song itself? if you don't mind the singing, ask her to sing a diff song!

Gonna be honest here, it's the singing I'm objecting to. I feel like he's just doing something to include his cousin, which is nice, but she could do a reading or read a poem or something. Why does it have to be singing this song that only makes me think of Puff the Magic Dragon.

Plus, she's blind, so I feel like I have to be extra nice about anything involving her....
