My health insurace runs out at the end of June and will cost $900 a month to renew. I am a graduate student and therefore can only work part-time. Does anyone know where I can get health insurance at an afforadable rate? Thank you so much!!

$900 is alot for a single!!! I work for a GA for medical insurance and there aren't really any cheap plans out there. Hip and Vytra are the least expensive (around $450ish) at the moment try there websites. You can try Oxford it will probably be around $550 a month.

When I got out of school I applied for Helathy NY. They have different health plans you can choose from. I had Empire and it cost me $225 a month.

where will you be working? I worked 15 hours a week at a hospital and got health insurance from them -really inexpensively.. Most hospitals will do this, even if you are part time.

Sometimes, depending on your circumstances, even single people can get Medicaid... not the best I know, but worth looking into....
I was a grad. student part-time and worked as a graduate assistant part-time, so I only got a crappy stipend. Because I fell under the income required, I qualified for Medicaid. It worked for me... I just wanted something in the event anything would happen... I.e. car accident, etc. Thank God, I have no chronic health issues, so besides one visit to the gyno. and the dentist, I did not use it often. Check it out... although if you have chronic health problems (lots of visits, prescriptions, etc. etc. check into more fully. I don't know how much they cover. they cover the basics....

I had United Healthcare thru Health NY, and paid about $203/month. I'm in grad school and United was so much better than what school offered. HTH

I think you can qualify for healthy ny if you are a student. It is a great program. I actually had the same coverage under healthy ny (i used empire) taht i had with empire under my father's insurance.
