Help! Tried to knit

Hi Girls,
I tried to knit a few weeks ago and just saw this board now. I had a lot of trouble. Any pointers? I am going to get the books you ladies suggested on another htread! Also...this may be a silly question, but what's the difference between crocheting and knitting?

Hi! I tried to learn to knit from a book, and I just couldn't follow it. If you know someone that knits, I would ask them for help.

Crotchet is done with a hook. It goes much faster than knitting, which is done with two or more needles.

Since I learned to knit first, I found crotcheting to be more difficult. I just couldn't remember when to increase, and my squares ended up being roundish.
