The Boulders Inn in Connecticut is so pretty and romantic (you definitely would want a cottage). I can't remember the rates there though.
I go to a yearly conference for a couple of nights at Mohonk and it's very expensive, especially in summer months.

Greenport or Southold on the North Fork of Long Island. Or even BETTER, Shelter Island!!! Not as crazy as Hamptons and Montauk.

I will check out shelter Island. I actually lived in riverhead up until like two weeks ago so greenport doesn't really feel like I am getting away lol. You ladies have been so helpful - thanks alot:)

Try Tarrytown House Estates. Its one of our favorite weekend getaways and there are so many historical sites to check out in the area. Plus they have a pool, etc....
