One of my cousins from Maryland called me today and left a message saying that she is so excited that she is invited to the wedding and she is definately going to attend with her husband and at the end of the message she says that she is bringing her 6 month old! She has 3 other kids which I assume she is leaving home with sitters or family.
How do I call her and tell her that I do not want her to bring her 6 month old to the wedding?
I was thinking of hiring a sitter for the wedding that could stay in the bridal suite during the wedding and babysit.
HELP!

Re: HELP-What do I say to a guest
i say call her and apologize, but let her know that there are no kids allowed at the reception...i don't think it's your responsibility to hire a sitter for her!

Ask if one of your teenage family members have a friend who babysits.. Or if anyone with kids knows a babysitter... Then offer the babysitter to your cousin... I would make it aware that children under 5 are not invited.. (or however young the youngest is).. if you have a FG thats younger say something like, except for rosie because shes my FG... GOOD LUCK!!!!

That's probably a good idea what you have about the babysitter. We are going to tell our guests that due to the fact that there will be alot of adults invited that we're not including children, however we will provide with a babysitter. She might be breastfeeding or doesn't want to leave the baby for that long just yet. I think she'll understand. I mean it will be too loud for the baby I think and it will give her a chance to be without the baby for a little while.

Not to throw a monkey wrench in this BUT...... A six month old would need his or her own babysitter. I think the suggestion of hiring a neighbor or friend of the family to babysit her was a great one. The mom might be nursing and that is why she is bringing her on the trip.
Good Luck!

if she needs to breast feed then having a babysitter watch the kid in the bridal suite would be a good idea cause then she could pop in whenever she needs to... i agree with mlp- an infant would need their own sitter

I agree with palebride. you are throwing a party, it's not your responsibility to do everything. they are adults let them find a sitter.

Remember a while ago someone had posted about dropping a hint with save the dates. 'hire a baby sitter because you are invited to adult only reception'. The saying was much bette than what I can remember.

Re: HELP-What do I say to a guest
IMO - I would not mention anything about getting a babysitter for the baby. If that were the case, she would've left the baby with the babysitter she has already. She may not feel comfortable leaving the baby with a babysitter that she doesn't know here since it is only 6 months old. I would call her and just say that no children are allowed to be at the wedding and that you're sorry.. say that if you made an exception for her, it wouldn't be fair to everyone else and their kids. Hopefully, she will understand. No offense..
