I found my dress this past weekend in NY at one of the big name bridal salons. After that I found out that I could get it a lot cheaper at a bridal boutique where I live (outside of Washington DC). I'd rather get it in NY because I trust the name of the bridal salon and it would just be easier as the dress would already be there and I wouldn't have to travel with it. I have negotitaed with the NY place so there is now a $350 difference between the two places (plus the difference between NY and Virginia sales tax because VA is only 4.5). Originally there was closer to an $800 dollar difference so I was able to get it down quite a bit. I just can't decide if I should go with the trusted name or get it cheaper somewhere else. What would you all do? Thanks so much--this is really stressing me out!!

Re: Help--What would you do?
You have few things you want-you dont want to travel with it (which I can understand) and you want to know you have no worries. I would go with the more expensive trusted salon-only bc I went with the cheaper salon and had issues and given the change I would DEFINITELY go to the more expensive place to not deal with the issues

Yeah, that's how I'm feeling. It's just hard because throughout my wedding planning, I've done my best to get the most bang for my buck, so it's hard to allow myself to purposely spend more...but this is my dress and I really don't want any issues! Thanks for the response.

I would also choose the more expensive, well know salon, however....my concern would be the fitiings. How often do you travel to NY? You will at least need to do a fitting twice. Don't forget to think abou that :)

i know how you feel. I would go with the trusted Bridal Center myself. Who knows if the other place will shut down and meanwhile they have your dress and your money! I would go with your gut!!

In my opinion, the $350 difference is well worth the convenience of not having to travel with it AND the piece of mind of trusting the store. Go for it!

I figure I'll have to be up in NY a lot around then anyway, so fittings shouldn't be an issue. At least that's what I hope... :)

Re: Help--What would you do?
I guess i am cheap...I would buy it at the cheaper store...$350 extra is a lot to spend on something that you are only going to wear 1 day! JMO

The store that is offering the dress for a lesser price; I would check to see if they are an authorized dealer for the designer. If so, then I would be sold and get it for the lower price.

Re: Help--What would you do?
look at the grand scheme of things....an extra $350 is only a TINY smidge of 'extra' when u look at the total cost of ur wedding....i'd pay the extra to avoid the headache of travel & reassurance. good luck!
