So I am from Queens and I took a trip to village bridal this morning & I absolutely fell in love with a Maggie dress (Cosette).Village Bridal was great & the girl I worked with was soo sweet but it's about an hour from my house. I called all of the other closer Maggie retailers and no one has the dress in stock but they say I can order it through them (none of the stores said they would bring in a sample it would have to be THE dress)... What do you girls think??? I'm not sure how comfortable I am walking into a shop that doesn't have the dress and ordering it- is that crazy??
Any advice would be amazing!! thanks girls!

If you have absolutely decided this is the dress, then it shouldnt matter where you order it from. I would go to a place that has a good reputation and a good price and order it.

I LOVE PARADISE BRIDAL but, that is way to far for you - 30 mins east of village bridal. I do not think it matter where ur order if from if you 100% know what you want...maybe go to a few stores closer to you to try on dresses to see if there is a sales person you feel comfortable with.

If you know the exact dress you want it can be ordered anywhere you feel comfortable with no problem.

i drove an an hour away for my dress. i ordered it from that place. i dont think it would make a difference if i had ordered it closer to my home. i just got annoyed when someplace said we dont carry it but we can order it.. as if i would order a dress from you that i am not able to try on??.. but JMO.. i can be bridezilla at times...

As long as you have gone somewhere and tried on the dress and are abosolutely sure this is the dress you want then it shouldn´t matter where you get it from. A friend of mine went to local places to try on the dress, saw the one she wanted and then ordered it from some place that shipped it directly to her. It was the exact same dress. The only thing you might want to take into consideration is alterations. If you are going to need them then make sure the place that you order from does them or you have someone else that can.

As long as you love the dress you tried on and the store closer to your home can order it there is nothing wrong with going that direction. I also live in Queens and the dress I ended up getting none of the stores in my area had a sample. Village Bridal was the only store that had my dress and after making the 40 min trip out there I decided to order my dress from them. There are stores closer to my home that can order the dress but I decided since I had a positive experience, met the seamstress and the number of times I would have to drive to the bridal store was worth it for the peace of mind and pleasant experience with the staff.

I agree with all the other girls - try it on SOMEWHERE, but order it where you feel comfortable, is closer to you, etc. However, make sure you know other brides who have had positive experiences there.

I agree with the other girls. I found my gown at Bridal Reflections, but I'm ordering it through Lillette's even though Lillette's doesn't have a sample of it in stock. As long as the store carries the designer, they should be able to order any of the dresses from that line.
When I ordered mine through Lillette's, they measured me and chose my size based on a similar gown by the same designer.
PS - Lillette's is in Baldwin and while it's still a bit of a drive, it certainly isn't an hour away from you, and they carry TONS of Maggies.

I was in the same situation. Found my dress in NYC but ordered it at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place.....I just didn't order it in the city bc of the drive for alterations and what not.
So I would order it from another reputable store closer to you.

As long as you tried the dress on somewhere else it's totally ok to order it from any bridal store that carries that line. My SIL did that w/ her Maggie dress and everything turned out to be fine.
