I would like 1 affair at a time. Water or nice grounds. I have looked at John Anthony's, Crescent Club, The Harrison House, Oheka, Jericho Terrace and so many more! I like Flowerfield but I am not crazy about the ballroom. I live in Seaford, distance is not really a problem

Have you bought the mag. LI weddings and facilities? that is the resource that I found most helpful! My fi and I were both looking for basically the same criterior, and fell in love with flowerfield also. However, there was something missing.... We stumbled upon Westbury Manor, which we booked. I'm not saying that this is the place for you, but we did have to give up being on the water, but it does have beautiful grounds! We could not get over how lovely the gardens were. they were also resonably priced. I thought flowerfield's gardens were nice, until I loodked at WM. We also looked at East Wind, which we loved, but was too far out east for us. It had beautiful grounds and the roomwas georgeous. I have heard that it is wonderful there. I have also checked out Carlile on teh green which I also fell in love with. You couldn't get a more elegant facility. I would highly recommend getting that mag. if you haven't already. It did help us a lot in our decision. If you can't find a copy of this mag. email me at [email protected], and i will send you my copy (which I do not need anymore). Good luck! Kelly

Have you visited the Carltun and the Carlyle? Both are very elegant, one-affair reception sites with amazing ballrooms located in parks, so the settings are really wonderful. If you have questions about the Carlyle I'd be happy to help since that is where I chose (after visiting about 9 places!)

I went to a wedding at Crescent Beach Club last June and it was beautiful. They had the cocktail hour outside facing the beach and at sunset it was totally romantic. They had the bar make frozen drinks and also had a carribbean band playing carribbean tunes which made it seem like we were somewhere in the carribbean The cocktail hour had lots of food consisting of calamari, pasta, shrimp, roasted pig, etc.... The ballroom they had the reception in was big and the service was exceptional. Everyone is still talking about this place and some suggest us to book that place again but we wanted something different so we chose Woodbury Country Club which has outdoor waterfall and a gazabo area.

The Crescent is a beautiful place, I used to be a cocktail waitress there and I know that they are exceptional. However, so is their price, especially if you were to have the ceremony there also. It`s where I wanted to have my wedding but price wise, couldn`t do it. We booked Pt. Jeff Country Club, which is also on the water, only one affair at a time, reasonably priced and I`ve only heard good things about it. they have a website, www.ptjeffcc.com if you want to check that out. Hope you find something!

Have you looked at Lands End in Sayville? We fell in love with it the moment we set foot on the grounds. It`s one wedding at a time and it`s right on the water. Absolutely gorgeous place. You can check it out online at www.landsendweddings.com... but I don`t think the photos there even do the place true justice!

well girls thanks for the feedback! Do you think it is weird if my sister got married at Lands End in October of 2000 and I were to get married there in June of 2004? Should I have my own place? I think the place would look different from season to season. We were not able to use the outside at all at her wedding!

Im a Lands End bride, so I am biased...i think the 4 years would be fine...unless you want to be different...have you tried the Vanderbilt Mansion on Dowling College? they are the same company as Lands End and Flowerfields or Vanderbilt Planiterium in Centerport? You would have to get your own caterer though I think

I do not think that it would be weird at all if you and your sister both had your receptions at the Lands End. Your wedding day will still be your very own special day to share with you fiance and your family. If you are worried about it being too similar to your sister''s reception, there are always ways that you can personalize the day - from the music to your dress to the decor to the choice of food. Also - you mentioned that your wedding will be in the summer. Land''s End is gorgeous in the summer and if it is a nice day, you can always utilize the outdoor area that is provided. Ultimately, it is you and your fiance''s decision, but if Land''s End is the place that you like best out of all of the places you have looked (and it seems like you have looked at a lot of places), then go for it. Just my two cents:) In any event - good luck!

I don't think it's wierd.....
my 2 cousins got married at the same place (they are sisters) a yr. apart from one another. Each cousin's wedding was different and reflected the personalities of each sister. Everyone had a great time, and no one mentioned that it was at the same place. I say, if you like the place- go for it, just make sure your sister won't be offended.

I am getting married next summer at the Wyndam Wind Watch Hotel in Hauppauge - they do one wedding at a time depending on the # of guests you have. It is a beautiful hotel (lots of out of town guests for us) and it is set on a golf course. The food was exquisite and pretty reasonably priced. Hope this helps.
