Help with a story a reporter friend of mine is working on re Iraq and the workplace
A good friend of mine is a reporter for Newhouse News Service looking for help with an article she is writing on reaction to the Iraq crisis in workplaces across the country. I told her I'd try to help her out by posting this to the message boards.
Here is her request:
I'm trying to collect anecdotes on whether employees are distracted from work because of the looming war and possible terrorist attacks, whether there are heated office debates about the war, and how managers may be reacting to these kinds of circumstances.
If you work for (or know of) a company that is trying to help people through this stressful time, or to limit the distraction/tension caused by the Iraq
situation, please let me know! Or even if you've noticed reaction in your office to the war and would be willing to be quoted, that would be helpful.
I'm especially hoping to write about a range of companies in terms of size and geography. I'd be interested in talking to any companies that are
enthusiastic about the war because they produce something for the military.
Separately, if anyone has ideas for articles on workplace or personal finance trends, or big-picture economy/business issues, please let me know. I'm the 'money and work' reporter on Newhouse's national staff, so I'm always eager for new story proposals.
