My FH wants to invite some people to the wedding at his work. (He works at a school) But he doesn't know the names of most of the spouses of the people he wants to invite. Would it be terrible for him to write on the envelope: Mrs. Jane Doe and Husband? He is not mailing them, just handing them, and he is not very close with the people either. TIA

Re: Help with addressing some invitations
I would write Mr. and Mrs. Doe or if they aren't married just Mr. Doe and guest. There is also the option of just inviting them as singles??? Im not a huge fan of it. Especially since FH and I dated for 6 years before we got engaged and I hated feeling left out, but if you want to cut costs its an option especially if your not very close

But these are women that are married and he doesn't know the name of their husbands. I think he is not really sure how (or comfortable) to find out b/c he is not close with these people.

If they are married just put Mr. & Mrs. Smith
No first name

I would just have FH ask them (and explain why) so that it can be written Mr. & Mrs. John Smith... I had a few that I needed to ask because they don't use their husband's last name at work but do in other cases.

I agree. No shame in asking. Better to ask and find out for sure rather than guess, stress out, and perhaps get it wrong.
Good call on clarifying with FH's coworkers if they use the same last name at work and socially.
