I have 3 ideas for table names and can't decide. I definitely want a Brooklyn theme, so any of these could work. Which do you like?
1. Name them after neighborhoods and have a short history of the neighborhood on the table. (ie. DUMBO, Carrol Gardens, Park Slope, Clinton Hill, etc.)
2. Name them after landmarks and again have a history of the landmark on the table (ie Brooklyn Bridge, Cyclone, Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, etc.)
3. Name them after subways running through the neighborhood and graphically show the numbers as circles with the #s/letters in them like on the subways signs (ie 2, 3, F, Q, etc.)

How many tables are you going to have. Are there enough neighborhood names to cover your tables?
Park Slope is my favorite Since I was born there

Only 8 tables so any of the themes should be do-able.
Park Slope is my fav too - I live there and am getting married there so if I do that idea, I'll have to sit at the PS table!

I live in Brooklyn too and can come up with 8 neighborhoods real easy.

I like the #1 but it would probably be easier to do #3 since you can replicate the subway symbols. I have a friend who did that at her wedding and it looked very chic.
Are most of your guests from NY? Will they get the Brooklyn neighborhoods concept?

I like the idea of #2 the best. IMO it seems the most classy of the 3.

Good point. About half the guests are from out of town. I'm not certain they'd get it. But if I included the neighborhood history on the back of the placecards or on a table tent, that might alleviate any confusion.

That's what I thought when I read it, but I can't figure out why!? Now that I see I'm not alone though, I'm gonna say it: #2 sounds the most classy...but they are all very creative. I think it may be b/c there's some roots in the landmarks--something everyone can relate to no matter where they come from. I DO come from Brooklyn, born and raised, and I can recognize that it's tough to use the words 'Brooklyn' and 'classy' in the same thought! There's something about the landmarks though that's old-timer-ish and special. :)

I like all of them - you can include info on landmarks and eighborhoods, but have the actual sign be the symbol for the subway - I think that would look awesome.

I like them all. I can't blame you for having a hard time deciding.

Re: Help with Brooklyn table names
I wish I had thought of this!!! I'd go with either 1 or 2 because the trains aren't exclusive to Brooklyn. Even if you had 15 tables I could probably come up with as many landmarks and neighborhoods.

Re: Help with Brooklyn table names
If you do landmarks, you can do pics of you and FH in front of each of the landmarks, blow them up to a 8X10 and have the in frames on the table. Then have the little history of the landmark next to it.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the landmarks idea. You will be able to get professional quality pics and info most easily as well from the NYC Historical Society and related organizations.
