Help with centerpieces

Hi everyone.
I am not begining to look at flowers online. I was going to incorporate sunflowers into my wedding but now I changed my mind. They are not in season in May, wilt quickly if out of water (in a bouquet) and they wont 'match' with the color scheme i have. The girls will have lilac gowns.
I checked out alot of flower websites but can't find nice pics of high centerpieces. We will be using those pedestal stands with the spiral stand with the candles....can anyone post nice pics to help me get ideas of what flowers to use? I have no clue and I am not super picky when it comes to my flowers. I know my florist can put together some beautiful pieces but I want to bring him something I like instead.
Help!

Re: Help with centerpieces

Hi Jenn! We have the same pedestals! Love them! My wedding is in October. We are using 3 dozen roxes in black magic, chocolate and sunny colors (all orangey and red colors). We have no baby's breath in it as I am not abig fan of it but i know people that love it. We are also putting some orchids and other stuff but i forgot what. two things that really make it though is that there is hanging ivy on the bottom of the arrangement that is in the air and around the spiral part and also there are baby hanging orchids spray painted a pretty color hanging down as well. Try sticking with roses as much as you can as they are one of the cheapest flowers you can do as they buy them in such bulk quantities. There are a slew of roses that would fall into your color scheme. We went through Danny at Pedestals and he has been great.

Re: Help with centerpieces

LOL and double LOL!!! A good thing is that before our wedding we will have another sample made up and I will post it online. After my wedding I will post again so you can really see how they look in a full room. That will be way before yours. I really love the hanging stuff (ivy and baby orchids) in it as it gives it a more romantic soft look instead of so stiff. It also will look great in our room because on the walls they have hanging ivy plants at the Fox Hollow. Doesn't your place have a lot of hanging greenery around it to? Lilac roses with white orchids would look beautiful... there is also an orchid that has pink and white in it which is really pretty too and very elegant. You might need a third or fourth color to blend in. They have a lot of shades of pink too which look pretty with lilac also.

Re: Help with centerpieces

I just remebered... go this site James Cress . They are way overpriced even though their showroom is beautiful and we didn't use them but i think they have an awesome website for flowers. Look under the wedding category... it will give you a slew of ideas and hte other catorgories have just about every flower imaginable as well. It will even help you with corsages and stuff. Martha Stewart has an awesome book on flowers too and there's another book that i love but i can't remeber the name If i remember i will post it.

Re: Help with centerpieces

Thank you! Me all happy now! Another thing you can incorporate if you are a blue person is the tall skinny blue flower Belladona Delphinium. It's actually a very pretty small happy flower that looks great as an add in for centerpieces. I've seen it used a couple of times before and always liked it. It can work with a lot of different combos (obviously the arrangement below is total yuck and is way too casual but i just wanted to show you that one blue flower):

Re: Help with centerpieces

This post is just too show you how pretty the colors purple and pink looks together, not because i am a fan of the arrangement itself or anything... just the colors:

Re: Help with centerpieces

Jenn,
I have been to a wedding with those pedistals and saw another wedding set up at the SC ...I love them I am getting them too. I saw them with all different pastel color roses (pink, purple, yellow, white), orchids, and purple flowers like the ones in the pic above. They were so full it looked beautiful. Since your bm dresses are lilac, i think the pastel flowers would be a nice choice.
