Help with halter dresses

Help with halter dresses

I'm really considering getting a halter dress. I've been avoiding strapless, but a lady at the last shop I looked at told me that ANY strapless could be made into a halter. Any ideas?

if you like it best then get that, you should be the one who is happy with the decision.

I love halter but i dont like how some of the halter wedding dresses are made...some are nice though but had a hard time finding one i liked...i went strapless even though i swore i wouldnt

I just started looking, but I've also had a hard time finding one that I really like. Some just don't look 'right' if you know what I mean. I have to find out more about adding a halter strap. I just don't want it to LOOK like a strap was added on after the fact! From the way things are going so far, I might be going strapless after all.

I LOVE your dress by the way!!! It is stunning.

just be open to other dresses, and dont decide yet until you go try some one...Try the strapless, they can put boning to hold you up and fit it perfectly to you...i was against this too but every dress i liked was strapless.

Thank you sooo much

You're very welcome! I'm trying to keep an open mind about the strapless. I know I'll find something perfect soon enough!!

no prob... I would be going with a halter too (probably this one!) but my best man's wife wore a halter dress (and they're wedding was only six mos. ago) and I don't want it to seem like i'm copying...halter gowns are so rare now...most people wear strapless...

I know!! And thats one reason why I didn't want to wear a strapless. Everyone I know has worn one and I wanted something a little different.

I feel the exact same way! That's why i'm either going for off-the-shoulder or spaghetti straps...they told me the same thing about being able to change any strapless dress into a spaghetti strap or halter, etc.. and they even demonstrated it for me, but I don't like the idea of that...when they did it, you could tell that that's not how the dress was originally made...and other people would be able to tell too...but anyway, good luck on your search, if I find any nice halter dresses i'll let you know!

You can still wear a strapless and have it be different....whether it be the beading, cut, etc. And honestly, when I look at girls in their wedding dresses, I never really think, oh...1000 other girls are wearing strapless dresses....you just get blown away by how beautiful the girl looks in that one dress!!!

I was totally anti-strapless because i just didn't think it would stay up. I thought I would get a bateau neck because everywhere I looked, they said petite, flat chested girls look best in a bateau neck. I ended up looking like a grown up flower girl!!!!! And i looked best in a strapless that my mom had to FORCE me to try on. So do keep your options open...you may be surprised.

those were actually nice halters that you posted, not real thick or anything like that.

i didnt want strapless either but for more than one reason...mine is not just a straight strapless on top so i liked that it was a bit different

Just go in there and see what looks best on you

A grown up flower girl!!! hahah I know what you mean. Your dress is AMAZING!! I totally agree with you about a dress looking different because of all the special details. That's what I'm really focusing on. My mom forced me to try on a strapless Maggie Sottero and we both cried when I put it on! There was so much attention to detail and may have changed my mind about strapless... maybe

Re: Help with halter dresses

When you go in to get a dress, dont go in to get a halter, a strapless, spaghetti or whatever...go in there and find a dress that you absolutely love and know its the one and will look great on you
