Help with Hotel Information

Help with Hotel Information

About half of my wedding will be coming from out of state. I have 2 questions:

1. We're getting married Sunday night of a holiday weekend, should I block off rooms for both Saturday night and Sunday night?

2. Should I be sending hotel info out with my STD cards, or with the wedding invitations? I always thought that hotel info went out with wedding invites, but, my mom thinks we should send with the STD.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Help with Hotel Information

We're getting married on a Sat. in June, I blocked rooms from Thurs - Sunday (check out). We're adding other events to make it a wedding weekend. I need to upload pics of our stds, in my photo album, but to let the truth be hold, I'm waiting til they get mailed efore I post pics

We ordered Postcard stds & (hand)wrote a personal message on the reverse side of them, I included a brochure of the mansion (this has pics & ammenities) as well as 4 printed pages of reservation, information & directions to the mansion. If you have any questions, just ask.

Hey, thanks! So, I guess I should include the info with the STD....

Another thing.... if I block 20 rooms, and only 18 get reserved.... do I have to pay for the other 2??? How does that generally work?

That will depend on the hotel. Some hotels don't have any penalty for unused room. My hotels has a 70% utilization on your first block of 20 rooms.... so i will need to fill 14 rooms out of the 20. Half of my guests are from OOT so I don't think that will be a problem.

Hey Date Twin, just wondering where did you book hotels? We're getting married on the North Shore of Nassau & booked near by. How cool would it be if it were the same?

I am getting married on a Sunday but only blocking rooms for Sunday night. I guess you have to talk to some of your OOT guests and see what they would like to do. As far as being responsible for rooms you block and don't book that depends on the hotel. I would highly recommend going with a hotel that doesn't hold you responsible. The hotel I am booking with doesn't charge and they release the rooms a month before the wedding if they aren't booked yet.

About half of my guests are OOT also. I am getting married on a Friday night. I am holding rooms for Thursday and Friday. I sent out the hotel info with my STDs.

Re: Help with Hotel Information

I blocked from Friday to Sunday. Some of the guests that are out of town are have to be at the rehearsal dinner so we blocked more days and for anyone who wants to come out sooner.
