My invitations don't come with an inner envelope... So where do I write Mr Jim Doe & Guest. Can you put it on the outer envelope? Is that proper? How about if you're inviting Mr & Mrs Jim Doe and Children. Do you write 'and children' or Do you write Mr & Mrs Jim Doe and Jim Doe Jr?

Im not sure I understand...Im not doing an inner envelope and you address it to whoever you are inviting on the outer: Mr. john doe and guest, Mr and Mrs John Doe and Family, etc. Most of the invitations Ive gotten dont have an inner envelope (actually only one had an inner envelope), I kinda think they are a waste of money, JMO

I don't have an inner envelope either so I did some searches online and they recommend just writing it out like you would on an inner envelope such as 'Mr. Jones and Guest'. The children's names I am putting under their parents names. It's so confusing. Their are so many little etiquette rules. I found this site to be helpful.
