Help, I'm just trying to get an idea of how many people actually allow their guests to bring 'a guest' ?
I'm wondering if this is typically expected because my FH is allowing his all his guests to bring one guest each. He said these guests don't know each other so they should have someone accompany them. I guess that makes sense?
Just trying to figure out in what situation do you allow this?

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
I am doing quite a few with a guest because of that reason alone. I mean, a lot of them know each other already but it will probably be more fun and relaxing for the guest if they bring someone along with them so they aren't stuck by themselves for periods of time.

I'm inviting all my single people 'with guest'. That's the way I wanted it. But we have room . . .

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
Do you have a lot of wiggle room in your guest list? I always think its better to invite singles with guests, but definatly understand when people's guest lists are really long, and I'm sure your guests would be too. But if they didn't know ANYBODY, or were from OOT, I would invite with a guest...
ETA: We invited all singles with guests, but only people in relationships brought people...

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
We invited everyone with a guest. I've gone to weddings were I wasn't allowed to bring a guest and I hated it, so I wouldn't do that to anyone else.

me too. Alot are OOT or have significant others they have been with for a year or more - I know I would want to be invited with FH! Pretty much all my guests over 21 get a guest

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
As of now we are thinking no guests unless in a relationship. We can invite more people if we cut guests. Its mostly FH single guy friends so they can all hang out

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
I am allowing all of our guests to bring a guest with the exception of a few cousins who are teenagers and are not in any serious relationships.

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
we are inviting anyone who is in a relationship with a guest. singles will be on a case by case basis based on whether or not a lot of their friends will be there and if there are other singles they can hang with. those that won't really know anyone will be invited with guest. we are tight on space and i would rather be able to invite more people we know than have a bunch of random people there!

Most of our friends have significant others and since weddings are a joyous occasion, lovey-dovey, etc. we're addressing the invites to both people. As for friends who aren't attached, we only had a small handful, so we're giving them the option to bring a quest, but some may not. Two happen to be in my bridal party.

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
I was VERY strict on 'guests'
I still don't understand how anyone other than a host can invite a 'guest' anywhere...
If you're someone else's 'guest' how is it that you get to pick your own 'guest'...

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
i think it depends on if the guest you're inviting will know anybody else. for us, our group of friends is VERY close-knit... so even the single people knew other people... and they are close enough that i could say to them ' look, you'll probably be able to bring a date if you want to, i just have to see how many 'yess' we get from family first'. we ended up being able to let them bring dates, but none of them did, becasue they knew other people there- but it was nice for them to hae the option...

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
We invited our friends with their significant others. We have a bunch of single friends and didn't invite them with guests b/c they all knew each other. The only person not in a relationship that we invited with a guest was my co-worker, who didn't really know too many people.

We're inviting all the single people 'with guest' even though we know most are coming solo. Plus we have enough room for it.

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
Currently we are inviting the bridal party with guest, anyone who has a serious significant other with guest, and all the random people who wont know anyone with guest...but there are a bunch of friends who are all single and if they are still single when the invites go out will be invited without guest. There are certain groups of people who will know everyone at their table and will be totally comfortable...

Same here, we have a few people who might not necessarily want to bring a guest but get offended if they are not invited with one.

Us too. No '& guest' unless in a serious relationship. Our list got up to well over 200+
FH's brother tried to get us to allow him to bring his flavor of the week and we said no. His entire family will be there (and his ex wife and another woman he is dating) so it's not like he won't know anyone.
The rest of solo people told us to invite them solo. In fact, one friend called me before invites went out to tell me she dumped her long time boyfriend and she will not be bringing anyone.

I am inviting all the single people with guests, I know people would be offended if we didn't.

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
We have a very strict budget. People that are single will not be invited with a guest. FH is giving me serious grief over this b/c he thinks everyone should be invited with a guest, but he also keeps screaming about how we can't afford more than X number of people at the reception. I'm not budging on this. I already budged on the kids thing and it's causing major problems.

Re: Help With Inviting Guest Of A Guest
I'm allowing all singles to bring a guest. I would never want to go to a wedding alone if I really didn't know anyone. Give them the opportunity to do that. Some might not even bring someone. Give them that option.
