help with reception halls!!

help with reception halls!!

okay so i have narrowed it down to two, not gonna mention the names to avoid bias...

One is a gorgeouss mansion, beautiful inside and out, great ballroom, but the menu is limited and the price is high for us. I think the price is worth it though, would be beautiful pics and great ambiance.

The other is a hall with a beautiful ballroom, but i dont really see many places to take pics, not crazy about the grounds, VERY extensive menu though for a much lower price... which means more to spend on other things.

Which would you guys rather book?
And which would you rather attend as a guest? ...Basically whats more important food amount and price? Or ambiance? in your opinion...

Thanks ladies!

just my honest opinon...which place do you envision your wedding taking place??? which place makes your stomach do some flips??? as far as food...again just my opinon...i would prefer the place that had the best quality of food...i wouldnt want the the menu to be filled with just okay food. and worry about you and Fh first and foremost!!! i hope this helps! good luck and let us know what you decide!

people remember food and the amount of it at a wedding... i know i do! go for the cheaper one... take pics elsewhere (old westbury gardens or something)

though the price is high, i think if you could afford the one with the ambiance, i would go with that one. i love having a great setting for pictures.

IMO, I would go with food as a guest and as a bride. You can spend more money in going to an outside place to take pics.

I would have to say food..that is what most people remember, not so much the grounds..your inside most of the time

09er crashing... I got married at a place that is very similar to #2 on your list and I got tons of compliments on both the place itself and the food.. Much more so the food though!!! I had people tell me they never had so much food at a wedding before and that was something that set mine apart from a lot of others they have been to..

As far as you choosing your hall.. I would say go with your gut! The most important thing that matter is that you are happy!

Then again as a guest.. I say I will always remember the food!

I'm going with everyone else on this; every wedding I've ever been I think about the food & music! You can totally spend your money on other things, and take fabulous pictures somewhere else!!

Buuut if youre not thrilled with #2, then go with #1, whatever makes you and FH happy is the best choice

i'm with everyone else about going with the food. it's definitely the one thing i remember most at a wedding.

Food for thought - I've been to multiple weddings at the same venue and had completely opposite opinions on the food. The weddings were also the same year and one the food was excellent and the other it was bad. I booked my hall without tasting the food. Food is important but the person cooking it at your tasting may not be the person there at your wedding. You really don't know what you are going to get. If the place has a good rep then that's a plus. Not sure if that helps at all...just something else to consider.

Yeah! What did you decide?!?!

One thing I wouldn't take into consideration TOO much- the grounds.

When I first started looking, I want a hall with lots of gorgeous grounds.

Then I realized, if it ended up raining and I couldn't make use of those grounds, I would be dissapointed. So for that reason, the grounds were not even close to my top priority.

Re: help with reception halls!!

I've been to weddings with amazing grounds...some in NY and some out of state. And not matter how great the grounds were, I most remember the food and music. I went to one wedding...they couldnt have picked a better location...but the food was terrible and that's all I think about!!

That being said, stick within your budget and focus on the food.

My sister got married at Jericho Terrace. It doesnt has extensive grounds...which was the only downfall. But since it was practically a monsoon on her wedding date...it's great that she didnt go somewhere with more photo opps...b/c it would have been a waste. Her wedding was amazing. The ballroom was beautiful, the food was top notch and the service was excellent. If photo opps are really important...you can always go to a park or old westbury gardens : )
