Help with Wedding-themed Mix CD!

Help with Wedding-themed Mix CD!

Hi all, I just got engaged last weekend and I'm working on a mix CD for my fiance (hee, love saying that). It's a themed mix, of songs that say something about getting engaged, getting married, being a bride, etc. I have about 10 songs so far and could use help finishing it up! I'm trying to use songs that don't have that theme in the title, so it's more interesting (and tough!). What I have so far:

'Wouldn't it Be Nice' - The Beach Boys
'Hotel Yorba' - The White Stripes ('let's get married / in a big cathedral by a priest / If I'm the boy that you love the most / You could say 'I do' at least')
'Then He Kissed Me' - The Crystals
'If I Were a Carpenter' - Johnny Cash
'Everlasting Love' - the U2 version

... and some other 'indie' stuff I know he'd like. I've been racking my brain, and the problem is I'll get some nonsense like Paula Abdul's 'Will You Marry Me, Boy?' stuck in my head and can't think of anything else. Please help me with some suggestions so I'm not reduced to that! Any genre (country, oldies, 80s, anything really) would be great.

I know it's an oldie but you said any genre. What about that song ' We're going to the chapel and we're gonna get married'? I have no idea who sings it.

I don't know who sings the oldies doo-wop version- but it's called 'So in love' (All 4 One did a version of it in the early 90's, but if FH is into indie music, you'd probably be better off with the original!).

Or how bout 'From this moment' by Shania Twain (I love the duet version!).

Oh...it's not necessarily a wedding song....but I love it.....'Best friend' by Queen.

Since you like indie, do you have these yet:
*Nocturama - Nick Cave & the bad seeds (when will I ever be your husband? When will you be my wife?)

*Sweetest Song - Blur

*Into my arms - Nick Cave

*I believe (our love was meant to be) - Spain

*Sea of Love - Cat Power

*I can't help falling in love - The Eels

*Here comes your man - the Pixies

Not indie-
*Hard to Concentrate - Red Hot Chili Peppers
(Do you want me to show up for duty and
Serve this woman and honor her beauty and
Finally you have found something perfect and
Finally you have found... yourself

With me... will... you... agree to take
This man... into your world...
And now... we are as one...)

Ooh, ooh, good suggestions! Thank you so much!

Kittythestray, I actually already had one Blur song - 'Coffee and TV' ('Take me away from this big bad world and agree to marry me'), but I totally hadn't thought of 'Sweetest Song.'

I'm such a dork: I'm not done with the mix yet, but I decided that all of the songs would mention getting married and then the final song would be Abba's 'I do I do I do I do.' I guess this is as good a time as any to let FH in on what a cheeseball he's actually marrying.

How about the IZ version of 'Over the Rainbow'.

What a great idea!
DEFINITELY check out Book of Love. You can use the Magnetic Fields version, or the Peter Gabriel version.

The book of love is long and boring
No one can lift the damn thing
It's full of charts and facts and figures
And instructions for dancing
But I...I love it when you read it me
And you...you can read me anything

The book of love has music in it
In fact that's where music comes from
Some of it is just transcendental
Some of it is just really dumb
But I...I love it when you sing to me
And you...you can sing me anything

The book of love is long and boring
And written very long ago
It's full of flowers and heart-shaped boxes
And things were all too young to know
But I...I love it when you give me things
And you...you ought to give me wedding rings
I...I love it when you give me things
And you...you ought to give me wedding rings

Oh wow, I love that song too. I already have one Magnetic Fields song - 'It's Only Time' from 'i' - but, hmmm, 'The Book of Love' might be a better song. Maybe I'll use the Peter Gabriel version so I can have both. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
