I need help before I have a nervous breakdown. I have a huge problem. we booked our hall and we are having a fairly large wedding. Our guest list grew unbelievably and our hall cannot accomodate that many people. What should i do? I'm afraid my banquet would not give us back our payments we've already made. Any advise would be helpful....

Call your hall and be honest with them.

Don't have a nervous breakdown, it's just an annoying problem that can be fixed.
What is more important - number of guests or location?
Can you financially afford the switch?
If you answered guests and yes - rebook. If you answered anything else, cut your list. It's that simple, no need to drive yourself nuts.

Just b/c your guest list grew dosent mean they will all attend. Look at the list .. see where you can maybe cut back and then factor in 20% saying no and then see if they can accomidate that amount

I don't know how many people you're over, but don't forget that 15-20% of your invites won't come for some reason or another. Speak to your hall, maybe they can accomodate you somehow.

Was anyone ever in this situation? Do you think the hall would give us back our money? We can't afford to lose a dime. We are over by 80 people.

Some places will give you your money back if & when someone else books your date. That should be in your contract. Also, if your hall has different rooms, they may be able to move you to a bigger room.

First take a deep breath and relax. Second, take into consideration that some people wont come! Have you looked at your list and gotten a realistic # of people who will attend? Next cut back some! THere has to be some people on that list that you can take off.
Good Luck!

No need to have a nervous breakdown at all. Just estimate your 'no' rsvps and start cutting people. Almost every bride has to do this. I don't suggest changing your hall if their policy is to refund only if they rebook because of your date. It may be difficult for them to rebook that date.
