Hey ladies, quick question. My girlfriend is planning on marrying her fiance..(hes in the marines)...when he comes home this month. They are just looking for something quick. So what do they have to do? Just go get the license....wait 24 hours and then where can they go get married? This is soo new to me since I'm doing the whole big wedding thing. Please help!!! thanks

If they want to do it quick, I suggest that they have a civil ceremony. I know that they do civil ceremonies at the municipal buildings in Downtown Manhattan (across from City Hall) and Downtown Brooklyn (near the courthouses). I'm not sure where the service is performed in Long Island.
My hubby is a Marine as well, we had our quickie marriage at town hall in Islip. The judge that did the service was wonderful. We needed our birth certificates to apply for the liscense. I think we had to pay a small fee and that was it...oh wait, they need witnesses. I think you have to have two actually. It was very nice and intimate because it was just us, my mom and my sister. Now we are having our big wedding in October ( he is done with the Corp now).
