My fiance does not go by his first name but his middle name. Everyone knows him by his middle name and Im afraid if I put his birth name on the invitation guests will be confused. All though wont they have to say his real name in Church? Then I was thinking Ill get invitations that have our names on the front and use his middle name on the front but then his birth name (first & middle) in the middle when they open it up. Someone told me thats stupid to do though ,I should only use one of his names !! Im very confused please help!!!!

Re: HELP...NEED ADVICE ON SOMETHING...
I'm in the same boat... My fi uses his middle name ALWAYS, he has all his life.. so What I did was use both his names on all the invites and everything else.so instead of just 'Todd' I put 'Michael Todd'
The way I look at it is that this is a formal event and that his real names should be used.. not just one..

Re: HELP...NEED ADVICE ON SOMETHING...
Does he want his birth name on the invite or the name he goes by? I say put whatever name he wants on there. Guests can ask questions if they're confused!
I have a similar problem b/c my FH has 2 sets of parents and we're putting all 3 sets of parents on the invitation (they're all helping to pay). Some of the people on my side won't know which last name is his b/c there will be 2 last names that aren't familiar to them. So they'll ask. Not a big deal!

Re: HELP...NEED ADVICE ON SOMETHING...
I always use my middle name- no one calls me verbally by both names but I use them on checks, documents etc... Scott never uses his. So our invites are: Michele Jeanne XXX and Scott XX
The calligrapher said that is very common. What wording did you want on the invites? I am confused why this is a problem? Is it a double fold card and the front has your names? If so, use Jane and Todd on the outside, and full names in the formal text. That would be fine. If most people call him verbally by both of his names then on the outer card use Jane and Todd Micheal That is no big deal. Or just use your monograms- not your married one, your individual ones Jame Theresa Smith = jTs Todd Micheal Coleman= tCm

Same situation here. My sweet Len goes by Kasson, his middle name w/his friends and family, but Leonard, his 1st name for anything officail. We are putting 'Leonard Kasson' Everything else will be Lizabeth & Leonard or Liz & Len. I like the sound of our names together. Lizabeth and Kasson doesn't sound as nice anyway.

Re: HELP...NEED ADVICE ON SOMETHING...
Well, usually invitations are formal so you would use his full name, so both his first and middle would be on it. You wouldn't use just one or the other, unless you have a more casual invitation.

Re: HELP...NEED ADVICE ON SOMETHING...
I would put his middle name on your invitation if that is what he goes by. (If that is what he wants too.) You'll probably have a lot of people who wont know who the other name is otherwise. I have gone by my middle name most of my life and that is what went on my invite. We only used one name on our invitation because along with my middle/first name issue, he hates his middle name and was opposed to it being on the invite. So our invitation acutally was: Bride's middle name and Groom's first name only!

Re: HELP...NEED ADVICE ON SOMETHING...
You can put his middle name on the invitation or you can put for example: J. Michael Doe
My mom uses her middle name and just signs things with her first initial and then the rest of her name.

i like NOVEMBERBRIDE's idea the best, with the initial. i think it looks very nice - while still formal, it's the middle name that stands out.
