Ok please be nice I know this can get kind of heated..I have 2 who will be in the wedding..but because we are on a budget we decided no other children other than mine. We haven't told anyone but my mom and his mom,and they both agree..but A LOT of my family is children, and his cousin has 4 kids. Im worried about how to handle this. were having the wedding on a Sunday, and my children will be leaving around 7-8pm to go to there father's house. How did any of you handle this? or would you handle this?
Thanks :)

Re: HELP...No kids at wedding..
I'm sorry I don't think it's right to invite certain kids but not others. It's a matter of opinion but I personally feel, invite all the kids or invite none. I wasn't going to invite mine but FH has some kids on his side that he wants to invite so I am inviting mine now.

Some people can get all like 'if you're bringing your kids, why can't I bring mine?' that's why I'm inviting all kids b/c I don't want to hear people whine that their kids werent invited and some other kids were. Whether they are your kids or noyt, I dunno, people talk.
My 2 cents.

I don't see anything wrong with this. I'm having 3 children at mine because they are my first cousins. No one's other kids will be invited (a lot of my cousins have kids). I also feel that most parents don't want to bring their kids anyway! It's a chance for them to go out and let loose without them. Don't stress, you'll be fine.

ITA with you, my invite says adult reception, I set a min age, 16. & still only invited my closest nieces/nephews. The only kids under that age are my FG's (2), RB and my 3 god children because their mother is not in their life right now due to circumstances. THEY ARE MY CHILDREN. But that's it. Do not feel bad, you cannot pay for everyone and their kids...plus pay all that money for chicken fingers and them running around due to them being bored. & there is a capacity in the rooms to deal with. IMO

Re: HELP...No kids at wedding..
I agree with just putting adult reception on your invites.. FH and I discussed this as well.. the few kids in our BP will be the only children attending and even at that I told their parents that it is up to them whether or not they want the kids to attend the reception. I told his parents and my parents.. Its a wedding not a damn day care center

I think it is perfectly fine to have your own children at your wedding but nobody elses. I would write Adult Reception on your RSVP so that it is clear!

Don't feel bad. Its your wedding & most importantly your budget:) I personally have to do the same thing the only kids attending are in my bridal party, however I will have childcare for my boys and the rest of the kids in the bridal party for the reception (Lets hope these little ones cooperate lol)

There should not be a problem it's your wedding if you only want two children there that's your decision. I am having fiance's neice and nephews and that's it! And if someone has a problem with that too bad

I think it's perfectly fine to just have your two children! They don't count as 'kids'.! They are equal members of the bride and groom I think. I don't think anyone would mind if it was just your two children and no other kids... My opinion....

They're your children, they should be at your wedding. I have been to many weddings that have invited no (or very few) children. I, myself, was a flower girl in a wedding where there were no children as well.
I am also doing a no-children policy as well, and in my experience, everyone is very understanding. You can't afford to have extra kids there or you want an all adult wedding - either way that is very acceptable to request. The only downside is that sometimes family or friends will decline an invitation because they don't want to pay for/can't find suitable childcare the day of the wedding.
Just write 'adult only reception to follow' on your invitations, and be prepared to have some family or friends bow out because they don't want to pay for a sitter. I wouldn't worry.

THIS! I'm sorry but having YOUR CHILDREN at YOUR wedding doesn't count as 'kids being invited' to me. I'm not having kids at my wedding (MOH has FOUR and they are my niece and nephews because she's my best friend) so my invites would probably say Adult Only Reception or something along those lines so people don't think otherwise or take it upon themselves to take their kids.

Re: HELP...No kids at wedding..
This is why I addressed my invites as 'adults only' and had '2 seats have been reserved in your name' on the rsvp card. It made it perfectly clear that children weren't invited to the wedding. And not one person said a thing about it.

theyre YOUR kids!!! nobody should expect that there's are invited just because yours are...its YOUR wedding!! it's not like you're inviting some people's kids but not others...its just yours!! the last wedding i was at, the only child there was the bride and groom's child who left early in the night and everyone thought it was sweet that she was there.

Agreed!! They are YOUR children, not just guests... they absolutely should be there.
