HELPPP!!

I am recently engaged and my family and fiances sister are already trying to take over and control the whole wedding!

Someone please give me advice on what to do!

I am having to have people be in my bridal party that I dont want...

They insult the dress, venues, cake, colors, and wedding style I want.

This is becoming too stressful to the point I just want to elope.

Get your FH on board with you very quickly. My mom was trying to be a little controlling in the beginning & I told her right away that if she s u ck ed all the fun out of this, I wouldn't tell her anything.

I'm so sorry everyone is trying to take control of YOUR day! But truly... no one can help you. You need to help yourself and stand up to them. Decided ahead right now what you're willing to be flexible with and what is really important and worth fighting for. You can just kindly tell them that you understand their opinion, but it's your wedding and very important to you to have certain things your way.

I agree with the ladies here. You must put your foot down early! At the same time, you don't want to insult or alienate people who will soon be your family and who you will have to spend holidays and special events with for the rest of your life! Personally, I have limited my FSILs involvement up to this point. She is one of my BMs at the insistance of my FH. My sister (MOH), best friend (MOH), cousin (BM) and mother know that she should be involved (to an extent) with the shower planning etc., but I think they've decided to make large decisions and then just tell her about it. Does your family/friends outweigh FHs in your bridal party? That might make things easier, to get your family on board with this idea. As far as their opinions about what your design directions, eff them! It is your wedding, you call the shots and quite honestly, if thye don't like it, they don't have to be in it. Be gentle with your words, but be firm with your decisions. Good Luck!

Put your foot down!!! You get one wedding, do it YOUR way. One thing I have learned is to ignore the opinions of others because in the end, its your day not theirs. You need to make yourself happy first
