help...sooo upset

girls I need a lot of advice and hugs right now....i currently live in FL with fh and we became part of a parish down here. I am still getting married in NY because that is where I have lived all my life along with my fh. We booked St. killians church last year for our wedding ceremony. fh and I spoke to one of the priests that work there and he helped us and everything. We went to fill out the paper work with him and were put in the book for our wedding date no problems. I have called back to check up and everything was ok. I called a few days ago to check on the pre cana situation and I heard something that I really did not except. When I called I was talking to the priest and he then told me that we can no longer get married there, they are going to have to turn us away. I asked him whey and this is exactly what he said: ' we cant not marry you here for
1-you are not a member of our parish
2-you do not live in farmingdale
3-fh and I or our families have never given them any donation that they know of
4-we are over crowded and people are using us
I was speech less. I have made all arrangements and everything. I don't know what to do. I am all for the church and everything but this is unheard of. Last I checked a donation is exactly that....you donate what you want to and we have donated a lot. They said that they double checked that it was ok that we didn't live in farmingdale when we booked it. Everything was all set and this is what happens. i called the dioseces of Rockville center and told them everything that happened and they said that the church should be shut down if they told me that and I also called my old parish and told them and they said the same thing. Well when I called back St. killians they told me they cant do anything about it and that they don't care what the dioseces of Rockville center told me. I mean this is out of control and the church excepts people to appreciate it and they have no compation or understanding. I am so upset right now and have no idea how to handle this can someone please help or try at least

That's ridiculous...all the reasons they gave you are ridiculous. Can you speak with someone else there? Honestly, if they can't help you now I prob wouldn't want to be married in that church anyhow. Can you find an alternate church? So sorry u r going through this.

Og my gosh girl!!!!!!!!!!!! I getting so upset just listening to this.....I told my FH & he said the same thing report them to the rockville ctr dics. WOWOWOWOW im speechless! Can you guys try another church...? What about st frances on wantagh ave??? All these churchs have some nerve!!!!!!

Oh my God!! How rude. I don't know what advice to give you. So I will just give you some hugs!

Maybe call the diocese...and ask them if they can do that. They probably can but maybe try calling them anyway. And maybe they can recommend another church!!

More and more I feel like the catholic church is a business not a place to worship.

do either you or you fh live in farmingdale? i am really outraged that the church would turn away a couple who want to get married in a church. i think that church is beautiful, fh lives in farmingdale and we wou;d've gotten married there if i had a problem w/my church. i really sorry to hear that you are going through this, please don't let it discourage you.

OMG that is horrible...they should definately be shut down...the nerve they have telling youthat they can't marry you because neither you or your families have ever given them money...they're achurch...they are suppose to be about God and the sacrament of marriage not MONEY...

I would definately look for another church...I wouldn't give them the satisfactionof eventrying to get them to change their minds...

That is terrible!! I know what church you are talking about too since I live right near the area. Im even surprised to hear this! I became Catholic about 4 years ago and all I ever heard was how they are accept anyone who wants to be part of the church.
The donation part gets me a little irrate! First, who says you MUST donate in order to be part of the church?????
That is bizarre and the fact that was mentioned is WRONG! Just looks like the chuch is only after money.

Im sorry that you are going thru this and I hope that you do find a church or find someone who will take action for their poor attitude!

Thats NUTS!! I would call RVC again....and really complain...then i would go over to the church! NOW THEY TELL YOU!
Ur lucky u have some time...so look at a few more churchs if they dont work!
