Re: help...sooo upset

the catholic church is extremely set in its ways and has no intention on giving up the way it does things. i have not run into a problem w/my church, but from what i'm hearing for my fellow 2006 brides, i'm juat having a hard time understanding why these churches would turn couples away. and the first thing they bring up is the 'donation.' mine is a mandatory $450, how you call that a 'donation' i don't know. just keep the faith girls. don't let one bad experience bring you down.

thanks girls for all the help, hugs and support. i ahve had no luck at all with this situation. i called rvd and they said they will look into it. as i grew up as a catholic i was always told that the church exceots anyone no matter what and that they are not greedy. WRONG. asking for a mandatory donation of $550.00 not including pre cana and the organist and telling me they can not except us it ToTALLY unexceptable. its said to say is that all the chrurches are in for now is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$money.

Iam really sorry that this is happening and I am sending out a big hug. This is really upsetting. As most of other ladies have said, the church boasts that it will not turn away anyone. I think that you should try to find another church if possible. This scenario (especially the money part) is a huge reason why I want to get married at the hall. I am supposed to be meeting with a priest next week to discuss getting married in the church. I am going to ask about your situation.

Hi, I'm new but, was inspired to post by your post. . .

I am in a similar situation. My church wants us to pay a fee of $1000+ for the ceremony. Not a donation, but a fee! We cannot bring outside muscians either (I am pretty well connected in the classical music community and had wanted some of my friends to play!) In addition, my church said that we would be having an interfaith wedding (I'm Roman Catholic, FH is Episcapol) we cannot have a full service. Plus - FH needw to seek an annullment because he was married (even though he is not RC, he married in the justice of the peace, and she was not catholic, she was Hindu). So, that's going to set us back by 1000+ and we aren't promised the date (which makes us hesitant to book other vendors). Forget out pre-cana - that's even more money and the church even has some other fees I'm not mentioning! However, if I decided to go to another church, such as his (would be much cheaper - only 200 instead of the 2500+ !), we would need to pay a release fee of $350!

I imagine you are feeling just like me

I totally understand your pain and would try to look at other churches in the area and speak to rockville center (we have and the other churches. I also understand wanting to marry in your church and not a hall. It's such a sticky situtation.

I hope all goes well and here's a hug for you
