Help...!What to do about kids at wedding?? with poll

Please help....

We want an adults only reception...however we thought I would allow my sisters kids (ages 6 and 8) and FH cousin who is from Florida (age 8) because everyone that would watch him will be in NY....

Now...I can't decide because is it fair to allow those kids but not others? Should it be all or nothing?..agh....my sister got a little bothered when I mentioned maybe she and her husband should come alone

Not sure what to do...what do you all think?

Re: What to do about kids at wedding??

alright - this topic is going to get ugly....but here are my thoughts.

i had kids at my wedding - i LOVE kids, Dave LOVES kids, etc.

The rule we went with....if you are coming in from out of state, your children are coming with you. It's not fair to ask people to leave their kids at home when they are leaving the state to come to a wedding.

Yes - some people will argue that they'd like to have a night alone without the kids, but at least give them the option to bring them.

we had a kids' table and it was AWESOME!!!!!

I have kids coming to my wedding. I love my kids. I love my family and my FH's family. Some brides don't allow kids bc it's expensive. I would love to have my entire family and FH's family to celebrate this special day with us.

At the end of the day, it's your decision sweetie. Give it a big thought and weigh it all out. Does your RH charge full price or 1/2 price for kids?

I don't think you have to invite ALL kids just because you invite some kids. We are having a kids table, all the kids are our first cousins. All of my first cousins are invited, but FH has about 40 first cousins on one side alone, and we just couldn't invite them all, so he only invited the ones he is closer too. Cousins who have kids, things like that, those kids weren't invited....we just didn't have room! People understand b/c FH has a big family and there has never been a family wedding that ALL of the kids were invited to.....so I think people will understand, invite the ones you want! As long as you have a rationale I think it will be ok!

I'm having kids at my wedding, but their ages are 8 and up. Yes, they are from OOT, but mine is an afternoon wedding, so they will be the parents problem. I'll fill them up with sugar and send them home.

It is your decision...and only yours. Don't let family, friends, or websites sway you either way.

In our case, FH's nephews (one is in BP the other isn't) are the only children invited. The RH has been told that no children are allowed into the ceremony or the reception. It is what we want and we are still fight with family over it. In my opinion...it's our wedding, we don't want kids there, if you don't like it, don't come.

We are only inviting the kids that are siblings to the FG and RB, plus as was mentioned before, any family member that would watch the children are going to be at the wedding. I think most people w/ kids like the chance to have a break from them once in awhile.

Just my two cents...

I have 21 cousins just on one side. 13 of them are under the age 15 (ages 5-15). We have two flower girls (4&5). All of my family weddings had kids. I know my aunts and uncles will watch my cousins and they are also very well behaved. We went to one wedding that had maybe 5 kids and I hated it b/'c they were running all around and were loud. I guess it depends on the kids and how well behaved they are. JMO!

We are only having 2 kids- the ones in our bridal party- fh's neice (10) and my only 1st cousin (11). I love kids, but I feel like our wedding ends too late for them to have a good time and its also really expensive- but go with your heart-its a very personal decision whether you have or dont have kids at your wedding

We're having kids at out reception that are close family (nieces and nephews, 13 of them combined) and a few other close friends and family with kids...all in all we'll probably have about 15-20 kids at the party ages ranging from 2-17.

I say invite them.....especially if you knopw they are pretty well-behaved children.

I would say invite them. I am just having my little cousin and my flower girl at my wedding because they are close to me. I think it is ok to have the children that are close to you there but not to have everyone else's kids.

It may sound rude to others but Im doing it. My brothers and sisters can bring their children. They are my nieces and nephews, we love them. Other children are not invited. People have to understand that, and I have not had a problem so far...

I agree of course you are going to want your nieces and nephews there because you are close to them.

Some people go way overboard though and will not invited their nieces and nephews because they make a strict no kid policy and that is ridiculous
