Here I am....

Here I am....

I've moved over to this board now! :( I have been married just under a year (2 days under to be exact) and I am finding my pants do NOT fit like they use to! Its very uncomfortable. I have not gone up a size just yet, but...........

So a friend gave me this diet. 4 oz of chicken a handful of salad! Ridiculous! So I am thinking of starting the Atkens Diet. Not seriously but just cutting out all bread and eating everything else in moderation, of course. What do you girls think?

I also have not been working out so I will need to start that again. I want to lose 10 pounds! Any other suggestions.

Oh and one more thing. I can't afford to buy lunch every day, I work in Manhattan. Does anyone have any easy lunch suggestions that i can bring in?

I think the Atkins diet is a temporary solution....are you really going to cut out carbs forever? (just my opinion). How about Weight Watchers? It teaches you to eat right while losing weight. Bringing in lunch, you can prepare it the night before and if you are on WW you can calculate your points ahead of time! Also, what about walking? I am going to get back to doing that...I went for 1 hour every night one summer and the results were amazing!

Denise- as far as things to bring for lunch
-Tuna sandwich
-Salad
-Veggies (canned or frozen takes less time, lol)
-Baby carrots

Snacks:
-Cereal bars
-Rice cakes
-Fruit

I 'started' weight watchers again today
JOIN ME !! I HATE counting points, but in January when i started, i counted points religiously for 2 weeks, so i got to know a few meals and their points.

YOU CAN DO IT GIRLIE !!

Re: Here I am....

its really all about counting calories...(or points in WW land)

I use a great program called dietpower...search for it on google and you can get a free 2 week trial...and then just keep deleting it and downloading it...

it tracks metabolism and exercise...it also has calorie amounts for SO MANY foods...

my steady lunch used to be:
wonderlite italian bread - 80 cal
6 slices of healthy choice turkey (from package) - 60
tons of lettuce and onion and some bread and butter pickles to give it some juice (but pack pickles separate...otherwise they make a soggy sandwich)

I would eat 2 of these a day...and they are really good IMO...

good luck!!

Re: Here I am....

Oh that sounds yummy! :)

Thanks girls. Well this weekend was a total disaster! We ate out EVERY night, Friday (Italian--chicken francese), Saturday (Italian -- Stuffed Shells, meatballs), Sunday (Chineses--Seasame Chicken) and last night (Outback-- Aussie Fries and Lobster). Can we say PIG! :)))

Well it was our anniversary on Sunday, so my husband said I was not allowed to cook the entire weekend! Plus we were running around furniture shopping etc, so it was just easier to eat out. But starting today..............................................

I will keep you posted! I am not sure about doing the Atkins or WW, I think I am just going to watch what I eat, drink a LOT of water, and start again goign walking at night. I already walk 4 miles a day, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything unless because of the way I am eating. Can you imagine if I didn't walk! I walk both ways to and from my job (Penn Station to 56th and Third Avenue). I love the walks!

what I have started to do going out...is to cut the meal in half...and only eat half...otherwise they give way too much
