Here is FH's answer to what the deal with strippers is ---

Oh. Well it's hard to answer for all guys because they all go for different reasons. Many guys go because they enjoy demeaning women. Many guys go because they want to show off for their friends. Many guys go because they don't know how to talk to girls. But I will give the Decent Guy answer because I am one and I'm assuming all the Brides are also marrying one. Ahem.

And obviously for me personally, I'm answering using PAST experience. ...experiences.

So for the Decent Guy the appeal of the strip club is really one thing:
the lie.

You get to see girls naked of course, which is always fun for those of us who happen to think that women are beautiful, but that's not really why you go. If you have a computer you can see one billion naked girls whenever you want. In addition to that, most of the strippers in most strip clubs aren't even that attractive anyway. For those of you who may not have been, it is NOT like it is in the movies. Natalie Portman is not waiting to give you a lap dance any more than Julia Roberts is the hooker with a heart of gold. In real life, these are seedy places filled with seedy women.

So why would a Decent Guy willingly sign up for a prolonged cocktease from a 7 with her hand in your pocket? The lie. Any DG (!) who is going to a strip club is basically paying for girls to pay attention to him. And seeing that in print really makes me realize how sad it is. Despite the fact that the strippers probably have some cottage cheese and definitely have a drug problem, they are good at what they do. They make you feel like they are actually into you. That's it. That's the whole game. Their mission is to make you walk out of there thinking, 'Man, I know she's a stripper, and I know I paid her for her service.....but I think I might have a shot with her in real life!'

So it's one big hustle and it's why most DGs, especially as they grow up, stop going. Once you realize that they're just a biiit disingenuous and that you're really better off being secure with yourself without relying on someone else to tell you how cool you are, you usually find better things to do with your paycheck. And while this might seem sad and pathetic, and I'm not debating that, we're essentially paying for what you girls get every day. DGs don't get approached by girls daily. DGs don't get cat-called. DGs don't cause traffic accidents because a car full of girls was staring at them.

I don't think it excuses the shallowness of needing that attention, but before you get on your high horse, think about that the next time you adjust your cleavage in the bathroom mirror.
