Here We Go Again!! Post Office raising rates!!

The price of regular mail is staying at 34 cents, but rates are going up on everything else. Instead of an addition ounce being 21 cents, it's going to 23 cents. Luckily the proposed cancellation of Saturday delivery did not go through. At this rate, though, the Post Office is going to start raising rates every month. The new rates start July 1. My wedding is late Sept. and because I was going to be out of town for several weeks in August, I was going to send the invites out just after July 4 so I could hopefully get responses back before I leave ... now I'm thinking I should send them Jun. 30 to avoid the rate hike. Is that too soon??

Does that mean we'll have to add a .02 cent stamp...

to the .55 cent one?? Or will they make a .57 cent stamp available?? It's really only about another $2.00 if you're adding 2 cents to each invite. I think June 30th is too early, Kel, but, since you were going to send them 4 days later, then maybe not! I'm sending mine out 1st week in August for October 7.

Not sure...

Hopefully they`ll have a stamp available in time for us. You`d think with these constant rate changes it`s got to be costing them money to keep making these stamp changes than if they had just raised to one level and kept it for a good period of time. But I guess that`s why the Postal Service is struggling financially .. because of poor business decisions. And I do sort of agree ... June 30 is definitely early .. but since I was going to send them early anyway .. what`s a couple extra days ahead of time. Just think of the grin I`ll have on my face when I walk into the post office getting out all those invitations just under the wire of their rate increase!! LOL Take that USPS!!
