here's a saddish question

here's a saddish question

Do you mommies of new babies ever feel like the baby hates you?

Down deep I know this isnt' really possible. I guess it's just that my itty bitty is so damn fussy. She just cries all the time, and I have to learn to accept that. She's only content after a good feeding of either breast or bottle and then she conks out on her boppy. Once in a blue moon I get a smile - a big one - on the changing table, or when she watches her mobile, and that keeps me going. But in general she seems like she's mad all the time.

I know it's normal, and I don't need too much support on this - please just tell me it gets better soon?

Could the baby be colicky?
I'm not a mommy yet but remember talking to some mommies who complained that their babies were grumpy for the first few months. It will change.

I remember feeling like that sometimes when Geno was an infant. But it gets better!! WAAAAAAAAAY Better.
Soon she will begin to smile when you try to make her laugh and she will reach out to touch your face.
Nowadays Geno's eyes light up when I walk into the room and he runs to hug me.
It's the best!!!

ETA: You're one of the best momma's out there!! There's no way that lil' angel could not adore you!!

Briana is not a cryer. It amazes me that she when she does go through her crying spell she finds comfort in her dad, and not me.

Aw, Jenny...welcome to the world of motherhood...filled with feelings of inadequacy and ungratefulness

This is harder in such early stages when the baby is not yet 'interactive' with us....but, hang in there Mommy, b/c soon Sophie will be FULL of smiles and coos and giggles for you!

I COMPLETELY understand what you are going through - I STILL have these feelings now and then b/c Paul has such a strong preference for finding comfort in his Daddy when things don't go his way. It is HARD to handle sometimes, especially when my instincts are so strong to want to bring him comfort. It's as if nature is playing a cruel joke on me.

My best friend and I have a standing joke, that I try to remind myself of whenever I feel as though my contributions to this house are 'invisible' to my child....my friend says that even though Daddy is the demi-god most of the time, the minute these children of ours are caught in a 'play that saved the game' or 15 seconds of fame on TV, what's [very often] the FIRST thing they think to say?

'Hi MOM!'

I have a feeling when our daughters are 13 we will all be feeling, 'Why aren't we their friends' or 'why don't they tell me XX'
I am sure these feelings never go away. You are her Mommy and she knows that you love her 100%!!! Never doubt that!!!!!

It definitely does get better. Its SOOOO hard in the beginning because there is very little positive feedback and LOTS of negative feedback. Luckily they get better at giving the positive feedback as they get older. Soon the smiles will be more frequent and the crying spurts will be much less. Hang in there!

This just made me feel so sad. It was the first time I realized that it's my turn to be on the adult side of teen angst... It was so much easier being the teen!

Ryan was grumpy early on too - as you already know, your baby loves you! And needs you!! Just wait until she practically leaps out of someone else's arms into yours and cries when you leave the room...

I thought he didn't like me much either, but he was just going through his 'thing' - it will get soo much better real soon!!
