Mineola is very nice but you just have to be careful if you are close to the hospital you may have a lot of cars and traffic on your block all the time. If that doesn't bother you than it is a non-issue but the entire radius around that area had that problem. So just something to keep in mind!

there are definitely areas to avoid - the nicest part I think is the Park section, where Chaminade is, and a few other nice sections are north of Jericho, and East, in the East Williston SD. Mineola's SD isn't the best, but isn't the worst either.
The only area I would want to avoid b/c of traffic and noise is near the center of town - where the post office is, train station, right off Willis, etc. Then again, if you didn't mind that, it's a quick walk to an awesome train line!

I live in Mineola. We bought there last year. I live on the North side of Jericho in the Mineola Lawns section. There are lots of nice sections in Mineola and it's a great town. It's close to everything. School is pretty good up until high school.

North side of Jericho Hmm I work on Willis Ave between Hillside and Jericho. Do you live buy the IHOP on Hillside?
That would be cool, I think its a great location, close to pways. Thanks for the input. I have no kids so, HS doesnt matter now. Unless there are bullies in Pre-School.

my aunt lives in Mineola btwn Jericho and Hillside...I don't know the street - all I know is that you turn at the Jiffy Lube
Its a great area...you would think it would be noisy with traffic...but its not at all...
my cousins are much older, so their account of the schools probably wouldn't help, but I think there is a section of Mineola that is in EW SD...and the Wheatly School is fantastic!!
